Jack Moorhouse is quality, but next season may be Shea Lacey time!

Manchester United Under 21's coach Adam Lawrence has helped many academy talents develop their ability and progress into the first-team, after previously doing a stellar job as under-18s manager.

Lawrence has seen the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Willy Kambwala progress through the academy ranks and make appearances in the senior squad.

Lawrence's under-21s currently sit second in the Premier League 2 standings,  and remain in a title fight against Chelsea at the top of the table, which means many of the under-21s players are pushing for contention for the first-team.

The 40-year-old gaffer has highlighted one player as having the potential to push on for first-team football, saying that he should use the remaining Premier League 2 games to portray his elite talent.

Lawrence recognises Moorehouse's talent

Jack Moorehouse has impressed this season. After previously going on loan to League One side Leyton Orient, the Irish youngster has been recalled and has played out the remainder of the season in the under-21s.

Moorehouse made 20 appearances for Leyton Orient and registered one assist before being recalled, and his ability has gained the attention of the under-21s manager.

As per BBC Sport, Lawrence calls for Moorehouse to force a way into the United senior setup; "It's the club's part to create the pathway. It's the player's job to force the pathway and make that final part. That's where Jack sits at the moment."

Moorehouse has regularly been called to first-team training under Michael Carrick, and has been named as a sub twice for Carrick's side, but remains unused and without a first-team appearance just yet.

Lawrence has urged Moorehouse to express his elite ability in the remaining under-21s games; "What we're looking for him to do between now and the end of the season, in those U21s games, like against Madrid, U21s play-offs, is show he can perform at the elite level and make the difference. We feel he can."

Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, Amad agreed with Lawrence's assessment of Moorhouse, although he warned that the young star has to stay humble and work hard in order to secure his chance with the first team.

"It's up to him to do well, to work hard, to be humble. And yeah, he knows how the club is.

"If he wants to reach the maximum level, he has to work hard because a club like United, you demand a lot. So I wish him all the best, but yeah, he has a good potential."

Could Moorehouse replace Ugarte as backup?

There's no denying Moorehouse's obvious ability, after being recognised as a signing for a League One side, Moorehouse will be itching for senior football again i the near future.

Though another loan may seem the easy option, unwanted midfielder Manuel Ugarte has been touted as leaving the club this summer, as well as Casemiro, who will leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

`Though fans are speculating who could replace both midfielders, whether that's Elliot Anderson or Sandro Tonali, the answer could come from the Reds' academy, and if Moorehouse seizes the opportunity, he could establish himself as a first-team option.

All this speculation could be futile, however, as a permanent manager for next season has not been named yet as of yet. Transfers are not confirmed as well, bar Casemiro's, and Moorehouse plans to push for a first-team spot may not come to fruition.
