Man Utd 2-4 AC Milan Reaction!More Videos

Manchester United's pre-season is over after their 4-2 defeat to AC Milan at the hands of Rúben Amorim, who picked up his first win for his new club in Wroclaw, Poland, on Saturday.

Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martínez and Marcus Rashford returned to the pitch for Michael Carrick's side after their three-week post-World Cup breaks.

Youri Tielemans also made his first start of the summer after moving to Old Trafford for £35 million from Premier League rivals Aston Villa. It was not the Belgian's best performance, but he looks likely to start against Hull City next weekend – Manchester United's first Premier League match – given Mason Mount missed the last two pre-season matches.

Here is the latest on the injury issues plaguing Michael Carrick's side ahead of the Premier League opener.

Mason Mount

What happened: The former Chelsea midfielder was taken off just 20 minutes into the Paris Saint-Germain match and did not feature against Leeds United or AC Milan.

What's been said: Mount was seen walking out of Gothenburg without a limp, and he is expected to be available sooner rather than later.

Expected return date: Saturday, 22 August, vs Hull City.

Matheus Cunha

What happened: The Brazilian went down with a head injury before halftime against AC Milan.

What's been said: Cunha continued after the break and was then substituted at the hour mark, which appeared to be a preplanned substitution.

Expected return date: Saturday, 22 August, vs Hull City.

Tom Heaton

What happened: Against PSG, Heaton was forced off after feeling his hamstring when he burst out of the box to act as a sweeper.

What's been said: Heaton did not feature against Leeds or AC Milan, but should find out the extent of his injury soon.

Expected return date: Early October.

Benjamin Šeško

What happened: The Manchester United forward suffered a shin issue last term and managed it until being flung off the Old Trafford surface by then Liverpool defender Ibrahim Konate.

What's been said: Šeško has missed all of United's pre-season fixtures, but returned to group training in the Republic of Ireland before the Leeds match.

Expected return date: Saturday, 22 August, vs Hull City.

Matthijs de Ligt

What happened: The Dutchman hurt his back in November 2024 and missed his first Premier League minutes of the campaign.

What's been said: Rúben Amorim expected him to miss only one match, but De Ligt was forced to undergo surgery and missed the rest of the season. He is back on the grass now and has taken part in the early stages of group training.

Expected return date: Early October.
