Manchester United have made a poor start to the 2026/27 season, with just two wins from their opening seven matches across all competitions. They now prepare to welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford.

The Reds suffered defeat to Hull City on the opening Premier League weekend before bouncing back with a 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town, as Bruno Fernandes scored a hat-trick. United then comfortably beat Sabah FK 4-0 in the Champions League, but have failed to win any of their three games since.

A 2-2 draw against Everton was followed by successive home defeats to Manchester City and Brighton. United's collapse against Brighton was particularly costly, surrendering a 2-0 lead before being knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

Michael Carrick's side then drew 1-1 with Fulham, with Lisandro Martínez's own goal cancelled out by a late Matheus Cunha equaliser. With Tottenham arriving at Old Trafford bottom of the Premier League, United will see Saturday as a must-win, but defeat could leave Carrick facing serious questions over his position.

Man Utd injury news vs Tottenham

United have several concerns and fitness questions ahead of the fixture.

Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo, Benjamin Šeško, and Karl Darlow all pulled out of the most recent set of international fixtures due to injury concerns and did not play in the organised friendly against FC Lausanne-Sport last weekend.

However, Carlos Baleba and Matthijs de Ligt both started the behind-closed-doors fixture at Carrington, giving the duo vital minutes on their return from injury.

patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui both returned to United early after sustaining injuries for Denmark and Morocco respectively, with Carrick expected to give a full update on his squad on Friday afternoon.

As revealed by Roundtable, Amad is back in training with the Reds but did not feature against the Swiss side, suggesting the club are being cautious with his return to action. Tom Heaton and Manuel Ugarte remain unavailable.
