Fresh off a Europa League triumph with Aston Villa, the former £73 million winger searches for a new home as top-flight suitors weigh his talent against looming wage concerns.
After being pursued by former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Jadon Sancho completed a high-profile £73 million move to Old Trafford in 2021. However, the winger struggled to replicate the form he had shown in Germany after moving to the Premier League.
Sancho was subsequently sent back to Borussia Dortmund on loan during the 2023/24 season in an attempt to revive his career. He then joined Chelsea on loan for the 2024/25 campaign, with the deal including a £25 million obligation to buy. Chelsea ultimately opted not to make the move permanent, instead paying a reported £5 million penalty to send Sancho back to Manchester United.
Last season, Sancho spent the campaign at Aston Villa, making 39 appearances across all competitions. He scored once and provided three assists as Unai Emery's side lifted the Europa League.
Despite his efforts to rebuild his career, Manchester United decided not to extend Sancho's contract. The 26-year-old subsequently left Old Trafford as a free agent this summer, leaving him with a major decision to make as he looks to get his career back on track.
Sancho attracting Premier League interest
While clubs from the Serie A, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and even Brazil have shown interest in signing the now free agent, a return to the Premier League still remains on the cards as things stand.
As reported by Football Insider, there a several Premier League clubs who are keen to sign the 26-year-old as a free agent.
Despite struggling for three Premier League sides, reports indicate that Sancho still has plenty of admirers and remains to be seen as a talented player, who has it in him to turn his career around.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke said, "
If there are any Premier League clubs who feel they still need to add to their attacking options after the transfer window closed, Sancho would fit the bill.
"He's a free agent, and he has extensive Premier League experience as well, after the last couple of seasons, which he spent on loan at Chelsea and Aston Villa.
"He made 39 appearances for Villa last season, so Sancho is one of the most highly sought-after free agents on the market for any Premier League club looking to strengthen."
What's next for Jadon Sancho?
Despite interest from several Premier League clubs, concerns about Sancho's attitude and wage demands reportedly remain, which could deter interested clubs from making a move at this point in the season.
The 26-year-old has been a free agent for almost three months, and despite that, the outlet says Sancho is not expected to join a new club immediately, as he continues to weigh his options for the best destination to revive his career.
Beyond the Premier League, clubs worldwide have expressed interest in his availability as a free agent, but the outlet says Sancho's two main options are a move to Saudi Arabia or a return to Borussia Dortmund.
The Bundesliga giants remain admirers of the winger and have considered offering Sancho a third spell, after enjoying success in his previous two stints in Germany. Despite this, reports claim that the German giants have dropped out of the race to sign the Englishman over his wage demands, leaving the Middle East as his most likely option.
