Jadon Sancho officially left Manchester United at the end of last season, having played for several different clubs on loan while contracted to the Old Trafford side.
Jadon Sancho's time at Manchester United was anything but how it should have gone.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær reportedly chased Sancho for over 18 months, and when they finally got the deal done, Sancho was overshadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo's incredible return to Old Trafford. Not to mention Raphael Varane's arrival, too.
When Erik ten Hag replaced Solskjær, Sancho looked set for a United revival, but a three-month break, combined with a falling out between the two at a later date, did not help him succeed.
In 2023/24, Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan – reaching the Champions League final; it looked like his career could be back on track, but seemingly not. In 2024/25, he was loaned to Chelsea, who chose to spend £5 million to send him back to Old Trafford, rather than buy him for £20 million.
Last season, Sancho played 39 matches for Aston Villa. He only scored one goal and three assists, so United chose to let his contract expire, rather than try negotiate a new deal before selling him for a fee.
Sancho set for Serie A move
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Fiorentina are set to table a three-year offer for Sancho this summer.
The sporting director, Fabio Paratici, has reportedly been a fan of Sancho for some time, despite his difficulties in English football in recent years.
The contract Fiorentina offer is expected to be significantly lower than the wages he was on at Manchester United, which were handed to him after a £ 73 million transfer.
Sancho is yet to respond to the approach from David de Gea's current side, but little interest has been reported on his future, so this could be the best offer he receives.
United should save Sancho wages
Rather than spending the wages United are now saving after letting Sancho leave on a new left-winger, they should hold onto them for the time being.
United are already stacked in the wide department – likely another reason Sancho was allowed to leave on a free transfer – they have Amad and Bryan Mbeumo on the right, and Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu on the left.
Marcus Rashford could yet be added to the mix, too, after Barcelona chose not to activate their £26 million buy option for the England international.
