However, their decision not to rush a transfer after a busy summer could prove smart if they can land a top left-back in January or next year.
For now, Diogo Dalot, Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui will have to provide cover at left-back, although Harry Amass will also want to push for a place after not being handed a Deadline Day move.
