Omar Berrada and the Manchester United leadership have come under fire following the club's poor start to the 2026/27 campaign.
Manchester United supporters made their feelings clear on Sunday afternoon.
While the team were losing 3-0 to Bournemouth in the Premier League, Old Trafford supporters were chanting against the Glazer and INEOS ownership of the club.
Negative chants were also aimed at sporting director Jason Wilcox and the club's new stadium plans. Omar Berrada was alongside Wilcox in the directors' box to witness the supporters' stance.
Michael Carrick was applauded off the pitch, but when he disappeared down the tunnel, those cheers turned to boos as the United players approached. Those in the squad looked stunned but fans are clearly unhappy.
They believe that Carrick was not backed sufficiently in the transfer market and the leadership team at the club are being criticised heavily for United's poor start to the season.
Berrada's two-year rule is being broken
Several times this season, Carrick has looked to his bench for inspiration in attack and brought on Joshua Zirkzee.
It is no secret that United were desperate to move the Dutchman on this summer but they failed to get a move over the line. He almost joined Everton on deadline day but there was no time for United to source a replacement.
Meanwhile, the return of Marcus Rashford has been treated as a new signing by Berrada and Wilcox; he was another player they wanted to get rid of a few months ago.
United's poor ability of selling players has been a long-standing issue but it was one the new leadership suggested would no longer happen with them in charge.
A previous report from Fabrizio Romano outlined Berrada's feelings on this topic. It was claimed that the United CEO felt that players would need to perform at the club or leave within one or two years.
Berrada and the new United board would deem it as 'unacceptable' if underperforming players remained at the club for three or four years.
We are currently in the third season for players like Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte, and Zirkzee—all of whom fans would argue have been underperforming.
Many would argue that the new leadership are failing to keep to their word, and with Wilcox having failed to move any underperforming players on last summer, he's already broken Berrada's rules.
Ratcliffe considering leadership change
While it has been decided that Carrick will continue as head coach for now, it feels inevitable that a change is coming in the dugout at Old Trafford.
Should that happen, INEOS will be sacking a head coach mid-season for the third year in a row. Sir Jim Ratcliffe previously suggested that United changing managers so often was due to the poor environment at the club.
Executives cannot make constant mistakes and continue in their roles and new reports suggest those in charge could also be under fire.
BBC Sport have claimed that a source close to United believes it is 'inevitable' that Wilcox will lose his job if Carrick is sacked in the coming months. It was added that another senior figure believes Berrada's position will also be vulnerable as Ratcliffe considers a wider overhaul of senior staff.
While fans believe this would be the right move for the club, it is worrying how quickly INEOS' 'best in class' leadership team has unravelled, and there isn't much trust that Ratcliffe and the Glazers would choose worthy replacements.
