Having played only 40 fixtures last season, the return of Champions League football to Old Trafford, coupled with the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and Premier League, will see United's fixture list increase dramatically in the coming months.
Therefore, the club chose to create a jam-packed pre-season schedule with games against Wrexham, Rosenborg, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Leeds United, and AC Milan, with the final two ties to be played this week.
While some stars, such as Mason Mount, Andrey Santos, and Bryan Mbeumo have shone this summer, it's become clear that the club must focus on bringing in a new left-back.
Reports have suggested that young full-back Harry Amass will be allowed to depart this summer, making Luke Shaw the only senior player in the position, highlighting a need for cover.
Hall wants to join United
A roundtable revealed earlier this month that United had planned talks with Newcastle regarding English left-back Lewis Hall, although reports later stated that the Gordie club was firm in its stance that the 21-year-old is not for sale.
However, according to The Sun, Hall himself doesn't quite share the same enthusiasm for the coming season, with the report stating that the defender wants to make the move to Old Trafford this summer.
Further, StandardSport add that this is a decision he has made his desire to leave clear to his current club, with the appointment of Matthias Jaissle as Eddie Howe's replacement.
United reportedly want to prioritise a move to Hall over all others despite being offered Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly for around £45 million, although the former's contract until 2029 put Newcastle in a strong negotiating position.
Hall may have to push for the move
If Hall truly wants to depart the north east and head to Old Trafford this summer, it may need to become a bit of an ugly battle to get the deal done.
Last summer, the world watched as Liverpool, Newcastle, and Alexander Isak fought tooth and nail against each other to secure the Swedish striker's move to Anfield, and with Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon, and other big-name stars having left Newcastle this summer, Hall's exit would not be pretty.
It may be a situation where Hall would have to start actively asking the club to sell him in the final three weeks of the window to get a deal over the line, while United would likely have to cough up some serious cash to have a bid accepted.
Previous reports have suggested that a fee of around £60-70 million would be what it would take to strike an agreement, and with just a few weeks left until the window shuts, a decision must be made soon.
