Man Utd Prepare Spaniard As Lewis Hall Backup Option

Manchester United remain on the hunt for more signings as they are now in the final month of the summer transfer window. 

So far, the Red Devils have signed Andrey Santos (£50 million, Chelsea), Karl Darlow (free, formerly of Leeds United), Youri Tielemans (£35 million, Aston Villa), and Tynan Thompson (£8 million, Tottenham Hotspur). 

Earlier this summer, Roundtable reported that Michael Carrick will have a say in transfers this summer – more than his predecessor, Rúben Amorim. 

Recent reports suggest United are still eyeing a move for a third midfielder, while a left-back and a left-winger are also on the shopping list. Some centre-forwards have been mentioned, too. 

Roundtable understands that Manchester United have planned talks with Newcastle United regarding Lewis Hall.

Sources state that talks with Hall's camp have already taken place, and he is the clear first choice at left-back. 

But Newcastle United do not seem likely to let Hall go without a fight after TeamTALK reported that they were not even willing to talk about a fee for their left-back. 

Now, TeamTALK have also said that United are eyeing Racing de Santander left-back Jorge Salinas as a backup option to Lewis Hall.

They claim Manchester United will turn their attention towards the 19-year-old Spaniard if they are unable to land Hall this summer. 

A left-back signing could be moving towards the top of United's wishlist, with Patrick Dorgu looking likely to play further forward and Harry Amass seemingly set to leave Old Trafford. 

While a recent report has suggested that Michael Carrick prefers Patrick Dorgu in a more advanced role, Patrick Dorgu will play at left-back at some point next season. 

Even if United land Hall before the end of the summer, Luke Shaw is unlikely to stay fit for the entire season, and there will be times when Hall needs a rest. Patrick Dorgu would be top of the queue to take his place, especially if he is not a regular on the flank. 

Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui and maybe even Ayden Heaven could also feature on the left side of defence, but it would be quite a surprise if Dorgu did not play there in at least one game. 

Dorgu could even start the season as United's left-back. They face Hull City on the opening day of the Premier League – a team in which United should dominate. Carrick could choose Dorgu from the start to add another layer to the attack.
