Andrey Santos shines amidst defensive lapses as Michael Carrick’s side concludes their pre-season with a high-scoring defeat against Rúben Amorim’s AC Milan squad.
Michael Carrick's Manchester United suffered a 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in their sixth and final pre-season game. It was the first time the Red Devils had gone up against Rúben Amorim since his sacking in January after a 1-1 draw with Leeds United.
Harry Maguire gave United an early lead after forcing his way through a crowd of AC Milan defenders and finding space in the centre of their six-yard box for a free header.
The Italian side dominated the ball in the first half after Maguire's goal, but Senne Lammens did well to keep the score level until the 37th minute. Several mistakes by Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Noussair Mazraoui saw Milan draw level with ease after a pass across the penalty area.
Bruno Fernandes' second penalty miss in as many games saw the score remain level until Patrick Dorgu capitalised on a poor back pass just minutes after halftime.
However, it was not long until they were level once again after Cisse lost his marker (Noussair Mazraoui) and found himself with a tap-in at the back post to make it 2-2. Goncalo Ramos and Ruben Loftus-Cheek soon made it three and then four.
With just one week until Manchester United's return to competitive action, Michael Carrick would have been hoping for a better performance from his side.

Great signing. Marshalled the midfield well. Saved Manchester United on multiple occasions before his substitution.

Pressing has been fantastic in pre-season.

Not in the game enough. Slight worry that he's missed two penalties in a row. Some good balls into the box towards the end of the game.
