As Michael Carrick’s tactical shift falters at Old Trafford, the Seagulls remain calm while elite suitors circle their record-breaking manager following a dominant start to the season.

Manchester United have started poorly in the Premier League, which comes as a surprise, as the Reds spent over £150 million this summer and reinforced a shaky midfield.

With no wins in seven and a recent 1-1 away to Leeds United, newly appointed permanent manager Michael Carrick is now under pressure to prove he deserves to keep his job.

United have failed to establish a decent run of form, which wavers from the spectacular end to last season, in which the Reds ended the last campaign with six games unbeaten.

Carrick may be feeling the pressure, and INEOS may decide to cut their losses early, with an in-form Premier League manager reportedly on the market.

Brighton "relaxed" amid Hurzeler interest

Brighton have hit a purple patch as the Premier League restarts, winning five of their last seven league games.

The Seagulls also kicked off their first-ever European tournament with a 4-0 home win over Kauno Žalgiris.

Much of their recent success has come from manager Fabian Hurzeler's authority and man-management.

Hurzeler impressed at St. Pauli, helping them return to the top flight of German football, and became the youngest manager ever to take charge of a team in the Premier League.

According to Football Insider, Brighton commented on the situation, saying that they are "not surprised" about the interest in Hurzeler, but remain "relaxed" about the situation.

Hurzeler and his team have not conceded in two whole hours of football and sit third in the table, which has led teams to chase Brighton's manager.

Has Carrick been given enough time?

Carrick's adapted tactics from last season have seen a decline in form. The 44-year-old hinted that United would become a more possession-dominant team, which has slowed the tempo.

His 4-2-3-1 formation matches Hurzeler's, but United have adopted a 4-4-2 pressing shape, with attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes joining the frontline press.

United also failed to bolster their backline, which has exacerbated the increased workload since the Reds' return to the Champions League.

Pressure mounts on Carrick as his team selections are under consistent scrutiny, but he reportedly retains the backing of the United board.

The Reds face Como, Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Roma in their next four games, and Carrick will need a result to ease some pressure.
