Man Utd eye Everton's Iliman Ndiaye, who feels the Old Trafford move is a "dream" transfer. However, his valuation could reshape the club's transfer strategy.
Despite the overwhelming priority of Manchester United's summer transfer plans lying in midfield, the club are well known to want further attacking reinforcements, too.
Last summer, United spent over £200 million on a new front three, with Matheus Cunha joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and talented striker Benjamin Šeško being recruited from RB Leipzig.
Although Mbeumo started life fast at Old Trafford, with goals in his opening games, Cunha and Šeško took a little longer to settle in.
However, the latter two have been performing brilliantly throughout 2026, particularly since Michael Carrick's appointment, prompting the club to consider how to add to the attack ahead of its return to Europe next season.
Ndiaye sees United move as 'dream'
Earlier this week, Roundtable revealed that Everton star Iliman Ndiaye was a player high on United's shortlist, with some in the club's scouting department viewing him as a safer bet than others, such as Yan Diamonde, due to his Premier League experience.
Following this, reliable United journalist SullyTalkz has revealed on X that the Senegal international sees a possible transfer to Old Trafford as a "dream," and would be open to a possible move this summer.
United will continue to monitor the 26-year-old across the coming months, although it remains early days in the transfer window planning, with twists and turns still expected.
Earlier reports suggested that the Friedan group, who own Everton, feel around £70 million is a suitable price tag for the star, which would put his transfer in the same bracket as Cunha and Mbeumo.
United will need to make sacrifices this summer
The club's transfer policy is clear – if a possible target has extensive Premier League experience, go and sign him. It's worked with Cunha and Mbeumo, and the policy remains the same for their summer midfield targets.
Carlos Baleba (Brighton), Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), and Sandro Tonali (Newcastle), three of the club's most significant potential midfield signings, all come from the English top flight, but that also means they come with price tags.
Ndiaye comes with both the same guarantee of settling in well due to Premier League experience, but also the tax that's always applied to inter-Premier League transfers.
If the club want to get his transfer from Everton over the line for a fee of around £70 million, they may have to look to reduce the transfer fees they pay elsewhere, such as in midfield, to do so.
