Manchester United have been handed the opportunity to sign a PSG forward after Yan Diomande chose to move to the French capital.

While the priority this summer seems to be Manchester United's midfield, there have been heavy links to new additions for the frontline, which was United's priority last summer.
Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško all moved to Old Trafford in 2025, and all registered 10 or more goals for United last term, despite only really competing in the Premier League.
With United set to return to the Champions League next season, Michael Carrick will be well aware he needs strength in depth to compete on multiple fronts.
The 2026/27 campaign could be a great opportunity for United, given that the rest of the 'Big Six' (excluding Arsenal) changed their managers after Carrick was appointed at Old Trafford. Tottenham Hotspur are a huge unknown under Roberto de Zerbi, as are Chelsea under Xabi Alonso. Andoni Iraola has taken a huge step up to join Liverpool, and Enzo Maresca has yet to be officially announced as Manchester City boss, despite Pep Guardiola leaving before the end of the season.
The left wing seems to be United's weakest position in the front three, considering neither Cunha nor Patrick Dorgu are natural in that role.
United handed huge left-winger opportunity
Yan Diomande has been subject to much interest this summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool both named as potential suitors, as well as Manchester United. However, the RB Leipzig forward appears to have chosen to move to Paris Saint-Germain.
While this could be seen as a blow for United, it could also open the door to a huge opportunity regarding Bradley Barcola.
Alex Crook has reported that Barcola is "pushing to leave PSG" this summer, with game time likely to be his biggest concern if Diomande does sign for Luis Enrique's side.
Some have already said that United should target Barcola this summer, amid links to Everton's Illiman Ndiaye and West Ham United's Crysencio Summerville.
Liverpool will also be interested in Barcola, though. They seemed to be favourite for Diomande until his recent PSG decision, so signing the Frenchman will not be easy. But nonetheless, it is a huge opportunity for United.
United must focus on midfield first
While Barcola would be a huge opportunity for United, they have to focus on rebuilding their midfield for the time being.
Éderson looks set to be the first midfielder to join the club, but he has not been officially announced after his late World Cup call-up. Mateus Fernandes looked destined to follow him from West Ham United, but it seems United have yet to submit a bid, despite opening club-to-club talks weeks ago.
Manuel Ugarte's ACL injury for Uruguay could make signing a third midfielder difficult, but if funds are there for a left-winger, they could be used in the engine room instead.
Cunha and Dorgu have been more than good enough in that role since Carrick arrived, and they are only likely to improve as they grow more comfortable. Not to mention, Marcus Rashford could be an option there, too.
