Manchester United's summer rebuild hasn't quite hit the expectations that fans anticipated. The departure of Casemiro and assumed sale of Manuel Ugarte leaves a void in the core of United's squad.

The signing of Brazilian midfielder Ederson has been the first of the Michael Carrick era but much more movement is needed in the window to build the strength in the United squad heading into next season.

Felix Nmecha was recently revealed as a name on United's radar with Roundtable reporting that other top European clubs are showing interest. His performances for Germany at the World Cup have impressed, with the Dortmund star showing elite quality on the ball.

Whilst names such as Alex Scott, Aurelien Tchouameni and Carlos Baleba have appeared in conversation around the fanbase, United have received a huge boost in their push to sign Nmecha with a release clause revealed and possible room to negotiate.

According to reports from Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope, Felix Nmecha will be available for his release clause fee of £73.5m, but United could negotiate a lower fee.

With Newcastle also showing interest in the midfielder, United would need to act fast as Nmecha continues to shine. Nmecha's favoured club remains unknown, with the former Wolfsburg man enjoying his time in the yellow of Borussia Dortmund.

The 25-year-old has already confirmed his place in the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup with Germany where he will face Paraguay in Boston on June 29. United's movement so far in the transfer window has been quite sluggish, missing out on Elliot Anderson who is set for a record move to rivals Manchester City.

Meanwhile targets like Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes seem to be slipping away with interest from Spurs.

When it comes to Premier League midfielders, there were not many better than Michael Carrick, so there are high expectations on the United manager to bring in the correct profiles to add to United's squad.

Nmecha has been used in a pairing with Aleksandar Pavlovic in Julian Nagelsmann's midfield with Jamal Musiala as the ten. This gives Nmecha to pick the ball up in the middle and simply create. 

He oozes confidence on the ball, despite his large frame, possesses delicate ball retention, quick interplay and uses his body to protect possession with ease.

Whilst his elite qualities aren't necessarily his defensive characteristics, it is unlikely that he would be the clear Casemiro replacement, as he offers a completely different skillset to Ederson who is more known for being the relentless runner and aggressive ball winner.

With Nmecha's release clause now known and the possibility of a cheaper fee on the table, United have to be looking at the World Cup star in admiration of his quality.
