Manchester United have been linked with a plethora of midfielders for the upcoming transfer window with players such as Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and many others. With the club knowing that Casemiro will be retiring at the end of season and Ugarte has gathered interest from Newcastle.
There are expectations that United will spend heavily in the summer transfer window with two midfielders expected to purchased in the summer, to replace outgoings and these purchases may be detrimental to the Red Devil's push next season, and with the inclusion of European football being expected, this will put an extra burden on the players.
United are only having to play 40 competitive games this season, due to no European football and being knocked out of both domestic cups at the first time of asking.
This has led to the Man United players, especially midfielders, being able to focus on the league more, something that will definitely change next season.
Tchouameni to cost £70m
Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni is one of the players on United's radar to bring in next season, and the French defensive-minded midfielder has been a staple in the Spanish side's midfield since his £80 million move to Madrid, playing 191 times in his 4 years at the club, and has only missed three games in the league this season.
talkSPORT have reported that Tchouameni could be for sale this summer, although his price will not come cheap.
The midfielder, whose contract expires in 2028, has been valued at £70 million, and Real Madrid has been eyeing other targets, with Rodri and Enzo Fernandez being considered, which could open a way out for Tchouameni.
However, Real Madrid have not ruled out the possibility that they will extend Tchouameni's contract and may not look to sell, which would rule him out of United's summer plans.
Will Tchouameni work for United?
Man United could definitely use Tchouameni as he has very similar characteristics of Casemiro, a robust number 6 who is willing to get his body on the line. However, United may miss out on the set piece threat that Casemiro gives and may look to replace him with someone who is known to be an ariel threat in the box.
Links to other midfielders has been much stronger, with Anderson and Baleba leading the race, Tchouameni is saw as quite an unlikely target to United but the club could definitely look at him as a possible midfield option with experience winning of winning the Champions League and his domestic league, something United will lose when Casemiro departs.
