Elliot Anderson has penned an emotional farewell to Nottingham Forest ahead of his imminent transfer to Manchester City.

The midfielder has been a revelation in the middle for Forest since arriving from Newcastle United in 2024.

Since the start of the year, there was a reluctant acceptance that he would depart this summer, and when Manchester City offered £116 million for the 23-year-old, it proved too good to turn down.

The deal was not formalised at the time, due to England's involvement at the World Cup, but Anderson completed a medical and is now set to imminently conclude the trasnfer.

Ahead of the deal's formalisation, Anderson has penned an emotional farewell to the club and its fans.

In the message, posted on X, he thanked supporters for their love and support throughout his time on Trentside.

He also reflected on the pride of returning European football to the City Ground, something which he insists the fans deserved.

Forest are now well underway in preparing for life after Anderson, and have identified free agent midfielder Xaver Schlager as their first signing of the summer. 

Schlager previously played under new head coach Oliver Glasner at Wolfsburg, and the Austrian head coach was keen to reunite with the 28-year-old.

His former club, RB Leipzig, were keen to tie him down to a new deal but, after an impressive World Cup campaign, Schlager chose Forest as his new club.

Elsewhere, Forest are still thought to be interested in Tottenham Hotspur's Lucas Bergvall, though Spurs' valuation is proving an obstacle for potential suitors.

The club are also keen to bring in a central defender as a priority, owing to Glasner's intention to operate with his usual three-at-the-back system at Forest.
