Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Elliot Anderson will join Manchester City.
Just hours after his World Cup round of 32 involvement for England, Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Elliot Anderson will join Manchester City this summer.
After months of interest, talks over Anderson’s future had accelerated in recent weeks, with Forest reaching an agreement for the sale of Anderson last week.
Now, with the turn of the new financial year for clubs, Forest have publicly confirmed the move for the first time.
In a statement, they said that the formalities of the move will take place at a later time, so as not to hinder his World Cup campaign.
“Nottingham Forest can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Manchester City for the transfer of Elliot Anderson,” they confirmed.
“The necessary formalities will be completed in due course, allowing Elliot's full focus to remain on representing England at the FIFA World Cup.
“The Club will pay tribute to Elliot's outstanding contribution over the past two seasons at the appropriate time.
“Until then, everyone at Nottingham Forest wishes Elliot and the England squad every success for the remainder of the tournament.”
It is understood that Anderson will pen a five-year deal with City, in a transfer worth £116 million, a club-record fee for Nottingham Forest.
Forest have already begun the process of identifying potential replacements, though they will now do so under new boss Oliver Glasner, who will replace the outgoing Vitor Pereira.
