Morgan Gibbs-White has lifted the lid on his viral TikTok before joining the England squad.
When Morgan Gibbs-White was called up to the England squad at the last minute, he was in a humorous TikTok alongside his fiancée, Britney De Villiers.
The Nottingham Forest playmaker was a surprise omission from England boss Thomas Tuchel's initial Three Lions squad, given he is the joint-leading goalscorer in the Premier League in 2026.
But when Cole Palmer withdrew, due to 'load management', it was Gibbs-White who was handed the place.
After Forest's mixed start to the season, the 26-year-old had just touched down in Dubai with his family for a holiday when he got the call-up.
Before leaving, Gibbs-White made a comedic TikTok alongside his fiancée, Britney De Villiers, lip-syncing and 'acting' to High School Musical hit song, 'Gotta Go My Own Way'.
Most saw the funny side, but it drew criticism from a minority. Now, speaking to The Nottingham Post, Gibbs-White has spoken about the viral TikTok, and insisted his decision to travel to the England camp was immediate.
“It was just me and my missus having a bit of banter," the Forest star insisted. "We do it all the time.
"We were just trying to make a bit of light out of a situation that was difficult for her and the kids. But she completely understood, she made light of it, she was funny about it.
“You've just got to embrace the moment, have fun with your family, and embrace it. Me and my missus, we always do stuff like that, silly, stupid stuff like that, and it's just us being funny together, and in a good relationship.
“I think I spent more time on the plane than I did actually in Dubai. But my country, playing for my country comes first. 100 per cent.
“And as soon as I got the call, there was no question in my mind, no debate in my mind whether to come.
“Like I said, it's an honour to represent your country, whether it's 10 minutes, sitting on the bench, it's an honour to represent your country.”
