Player ratings after Nottingham Forest were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Leeds United.

Nottingham Forest suffered a second successive defeat against Leeds United as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Leeds ran out as comfortable 2-0 victors to book their place in the third round of the competition, just days after beating Forest 1-0 at the same venue in the Premier League.

A sloppy performance offered little to be pleased about, with it clear now more than ever that Oliver Glasner needs time and patience to get the best out of his squad.

Nottingham Forest player ratings

With so much negativity about the performance, I just want to add some context to my ratings... two or below is the sort of performance that ensures a player is sold (think Loris Karius in the Champions League final, for example). So just because you may not see twos, it does not mean performances were not poor.

Matz Sels (GK) - 4/10: Should have done better with Leeds' second goal, frustrating distribution at times.

Jair Cunha - 3/10: Good work rate, but was sub-par throughout, ran away from Dan James for Leeds' first goal, caught out too often.

Nikola Milenkovic - 5/10: Several nervy moments and rarely looked comfortable.

Ousmane Diomande - 5/10: Beaten too easily, too often. Gets cut some slack given it's his first game, but a marked improvement needed.

Ola Aina - 6/10: One of only a few who can hold their heads even slightly high... involved plenty down the right and carried a lot of threat, enjoyed some bright moments.

Xaver Schlager - 5/10: Despite some positive moments, was generally too wasteful.

Nicolas Dominguez - 5/10: Offered very little, like most.

Neco Williams - 5/10: Too often gotten the better of down the left, despite some positive offensive contributions at times.

Arnaut Kalimuendo - 7/10: Possibly the biggest positive of the night, but it's a low bar. Carried a lot of threat and was making things happen, but admittedly lacked end product.

Igor Jesus - 5/10: Was a handful and continued to show excellent hold-up play, with some encouraging creativity at times. Ultimately unable to impact the game though, which is what you would expect him to do.

Chris Wood - 4/10: Failed to capitalise on too many chances. Some out of his control because of excellent tackles or saves, but would have expected better overall.

Substitutes

Dan Ndoye (60' Igor Jesus) - 6/10: A few bright moments soon after coming on, but could not make a difference.

Luca Netz (60' Ola Aina) - 7/10: Another rare positive. Didn't have enough time to leave a huge impact, but offered some really encouraging signs, especially getting forward.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (60' Arnaut Kalimuendo) - 6/10: Not a good cameo, but deserves to be cut some slack given it's his first competitive appearance since mid-April.

Murillo (60' Ousmane Diomande) - 6/10: Bright impact, similar signs from Saturday with being involved offensively

Omari Hutchinson (79' Neco Williams) - 6/10: Positive cameo, but realistically he did not have enough time on the pitch to properly judge, and could not impact the result.
