Everything you need to know as Nottingham Forest prepare to host Leeds United, again, this time in the Carabao Cup.

A strong sense of deja vu writing this one as Nottingham Forest prepare to host Leeds United, again, on Tuesday, this time in the Carabao Cup second round.

At risk of devaluing the Carabao Cup, clubs typically take little interest, unless of course you win it, in which case it becomes a prestigious trophy, obviously.

But for Oliver Glasner and his players, the second round will offer an opportunity on two fronts.

For Forest, it represents a chance to right the wrongs of Saturday's defeat, a clean slate to hopefully register a first competitive win under the new head coach.

But it is also a huge opportunity for those on the fringes of Glasner's squad to stake their claim for a more prominent role in the Austrian's plans, with plenty of rotation expected.

Team news

He was unlikely to start anyway, but Morgan Gibbs-White has been ruled out due to pain in his knee after he overstretched his MCL during a challenge on Saturday. It is hoped, though not guaranteed, that he can return for the trip to Anfield.

We know that Nicolo Savona remains sidelined after suffering a setback in his recovery from a serious knee injury. He is a matter of weeks away from returning to doing work on the pitch.

Club captain Ryan Yates has also been sidelined. While the exact extent of his injury is unknown, and it is hoped to only be minor, a return on Tuesday has been ruled out.

Ousmane Diomande is still gaining fitness, having missed the majority of pre-season owing to his World Cup involvement, before the transfer saga which saw him arrive on Trentside further delayed his pre-season return.

Glasner cited it as the reason why the Ivorian did not start against Leeds on Saturday, and he faces a headache about whether to select the defender on Tuesday, to give him minutes to get up to speed, or save him for the weekend's trip to Anfield.

Predicted Forest XI

Make no mistake, predicting tonight's lineup is an impossible task. Expect a good amount of rotation, but perhaps not 11 changes.

Forest boast a squad that means many changes would still allow them to put out a very strong lineup.

A change between the sticks feels inevitable for the cup game, though it is a coin toss whether John Victor is given the nod, or if new signing Steven Benda is afforded a home debut.

In defence, there is virtually no chance that Murillo starts, but beyond him, anyone could be in the mix.

The B Team fielded a strong side, despite losing 5-1, away to Sunderland on Monday night, so there is little chance of them being involved so soon after.

Likewise, Zach Abbott and Tyler Bindon may not be involved due to interest being shown in the pair by Watford, but that is less certain.

Dilane Bakwa is joining Lille on loan, so will not feature.

PREDICTED FOREST XI: John Victor; Zach Abbott, Ousmane Diomande, Morato; Eric Da Silva Moreira, Xaver Schlager, Nicolas Dominguez, Luca Netz; Arnaut Kalimuendo, Callum Hudson-Odoi; Chris Wood

Opposition focus

It would be mean to get Dylan Whitbread, Roundtable's Leeds United expert, to re-summarise the team in such quick succession.

For his full breakdown, you can check out our preview of Saturday's game below:

But Dylan has, however, provided insight about how seriously Leeds are likely to take the Carabao Cup, offering some insight of what Forest fans should expect.

Changes likely

"I expect Daniel Farke to make a number of changes for tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup meeting with Nottingham Forest," Dylan confirmed.

"With Leeds having only just faced Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, I think the timing of the game will play a big part in his selection.

This early in the season, there is little reason to risk key players unnecessarily, particularly with the Premier League campaign already underway.

"I would expect Farke to rotate and give opportunities to players who did not start on Saturday, as well as those who need minutes to build up their fitness, like Jayden Lienou and Noah Okafor.

That said, I don’t think Leeds will simply treat the game as a formality. Farke will still want to win and maintain the momentum from Saturday’s impressive victory, so played like Trafford, Rodon and Ampadu I could see starting.

"The Carabao Cup could also provide a valuable opportunity to assess the squad’s depth and give fringe players a chance to earn a place in the side.

How to watch

For fans in the United Kingdom, the game will be televised free-to-air on ITV, as well as on Sky Sports Football, making it one of the Reds' most accessible games this season.

There are still plenty of tickets available for the game, too, and they start from just £5 for under-18s and £15 for adults, making it a great chance to get down to the City Ground.
