Nottingham Forest have today confirmed details of the Reds’ pre-season tour.
Pre-season tours are often an exciting time for fans to see a glimpse of what the next season may have in store for them.
Whether it is new tactics and ideas, returning players or new signings, there are a lot of unknowns which can create a real buzz.
But for Nottingham Forest and head coach Vitor Pereira, the summer will be crucial to ensuring a strong start to the new season.
While Forest will be keen to right the wrongs of last season, Pereira has his own reasons for wanting pre-season to be perfect.
He has previously cited a chaotic summer last year as a factor for why his tenure with Wolverhampton Wanderers deteriorated so soon into the new season.
Speaking previously on his hopes for pre-season, Pereira relished the opportunity to have time to work with his squad, having lacked that due to the intense schedule since his appointment in February.
“Of course [having a full pre-season will help],” he insisted. “I think we need time together to build something and more connections. We didn’t have the time.”
Details of Forest’s Pre-season
Forest confirmed on Monday that the squad will head to Portugal in July for a warm-weather training camp… the irony that it could end up being warmer in Nottingham is not lost on me either.
Here, they will play three friendlies, with fans able to attend two, and a third behind closed doors.
Their schedule is as follows:
| Date/Time (BST) | Opponent | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| 22 July, 11:00 | Blackburn Rovers | Estadio da Nora |
| 26 July | Vitoria SC | Behind closed doors |
| 31 July, tbc | Sporting CP | Estadio Algarve |
The club are then, like usual, expected to continue preparations for the new season in England, although details of friendlies on home soil have not yet been revealed.
