Oliver Glasner has conceded that his players were too nervous as Nottingham Forest lost 1-0 against Coventry City.
Breaking down Coventry City proved an impossible task for Nottingham Forest, who fell to a 1-0 home defeat.
Frustrations, and desperation grew as the game progressed, which has not aided by an 88th-minute disallowed goal.
Speaking after the game, Forest boss Oliver Glasner conceded that both Forest players and fans were too nervous during the game, as they looked for a way to equalise.
The Austrian also offered his assessment of the game on a whole, where he admitted his side were rushing too much late on.
"I think especially we struggled with scoring," he said. "For me, if I'm very honest, I felt maybe for the first time the heaviness of the past year.
"The players were very quiet before the game. Then I'd say the game was not a good game; there was a lot of fighting, and many long balls without clear chances.
"Then in the second half we made one big mistake where we got punished. Then I could see the players getting nervous, the entire City Ground getting nervous.
"It's not [about] blaming anybody, because I could see huge effort from the players, and I can understand it, because everyone has in their mind what happened, but then for me, it's for the players to try and try and try.
"But then [they were] just taking the wrong decisions, always immediately crossing, they were being in a rush because we needed to get the equaliser.
"Again, they tried and tried, we were then very dominant, there were many times around their box, but we didn't create enough clear chances.
"We had one that was cleared off their goal line, and we had a few dangerous situations, some set pieces.
"For me, one of the biggest chances was just after halftimes when James McAtee gets the finish inside the box, but also credit to Coventry because they defended with everything they had. I think they had nine blocked shots today.
A disappointing, not frustrating result
Glasner reemphasised the nerves that he saw on display at the City Ground, but insisted that he cannot fault his side's efforts, despite enduring defeat.
"For me, of course it's disappointing," he said, "But it would be really frustrating if I could see a lack of effort, but I could not see that. I just saw and felt that everybody with a red shirt got nervous today.
"I'm still in the process of understanding the players and Forest, and I think this is maybe the biggest part we need to get under control; not to feel this pressure. When we took the lead at Villa Park, I saw weight lifted off the players' shoulders, and then we played freely.
"Players need support because they tried everything, tjey give their best for Nottingham Forest.
"They love to play here, and in this situation they need my support, the support of the entire staff, of the entire club and also from our fans. And I know we can count on our fans"
