Sunderland came from a goal behind to beat Everton 3-1 on Sunday, and Enzo Le Fée was in fantastic form yet again to inspire the Black Cats' comeback.

Enzo Le Fée was superhero for Sunderland at Everton

Enzo Le Fée beamed with “pride” at his teammates after Sunderland completed a stunning comeback win at Everton on Sunday afternoon.

On the Black Cats’ last away day of the 2025/26 Premier League season, Toffees attacker Merlin Rohl broke the deadlock late in the first half, with his low shot ricocheting off Granit Xhaka to defy Robin Roefs.

However, Sunderland found some much-needed attacking impetus at the interval, and brought the clash back on level terms just before the hour-mark courtesy of Brian Brobbey and the fantastic Frenchman.

Le Fee broke through Everton’s defence before slipping Brobbey in with a wonderfully-weighted pass, which then saw the Bullish Black Cats frontman fire past Jordan Pickford to level proceedings.

In the 81st minute, Le Fee epitomised his inspired outing by striking a low left-footed shot past Pickford to set Sunderland en route to their 13th away win of the season, which was cemented with Wilson Isidor’s late goal.

After the game, the 26-year-old playmaker showered his fellow Sunderland stars with praise for their magnificence on Merseyside.

Enzo Le Fee ‘proud’ of Sunderland teammates after Everton comeback

Le Fee was at his inventive best in Sunderland’s goalless draw at home to Manchester United last weekend, in his favoured number ten role, and thankfully Le Bris kept his former FC Lorient prodigy in central midfield for the trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Although quiet in the first 45’, in the second half Fee was once again the catalyst for Sunderland’s attacking fortunes as he was against United, adding another goal and assist to his 11-goal contributions tally this term.

His ball for Brobbey’s equaliser was deft and dynamic, and his positioning was perfect to slide substitute Chris Rigg’s pass away past Pickford.

Shortly after full-time, when speaking to BBC Sport, Le Fee hailed his teammates for the characteristic comeback win.

He said: "(At half-time) We just said we played well in the first half but the last 30 metres we were a bit quiet.

"We needed more fire and I think we did well. The guys who came on had a perfect attitude and this is the team, the family we have had since the beginning of the season. We can be proud.

"The second goal, and even the third, can be the game. The reaction in the second half was perfect but after the first goal we kept going. That's the most important thing.

"Nobody likes defeat. Our strength is to be together in the good moments and the bad ones as well.

"What we did all season is always react in a good way and we did it after the first half today. We can be proud of us. At the beginning of the season, we said we have to be a family, and a team."

Sunderland can deservedly be proud of their defiant display, but their efforts would likely have came to little avail with the Frenchman's magic.

Enzo Le Fee is the superhero for Sunderland yet again

Throughout the campaign, Le Fee has been Sunderland’s standout player from a technical perspective, showcasing his ample ability on the ball as he did during the Championship.

Although Xhaka was crowned Sunderland’s Player of the Season, rightly so for his monumental impact, Le Fee would just as easily have been a deserved winner.

The Frenchman has now hit double figure for combined goals and assists this season for Sunderland - with five goals and six assists - highlighting how pivotal he has been to Le Bris’ side’s attacking output.

Overcome with joy, Le Fee donned a Spider-Man mask in front of the travelling Black Cats faithful, with his performance on the Everton pitch certainly warranting superhero status.

And to interject Uncle Ben's famous quote, 'with great power comes great responsibility', and the Frenchman has taken that mantle on his shoulders throughout the campaign to inspire Sunderland's European push.
