0%Sunderland fought back from a goal behind to complete a dramatic comeback victory over SCU Torreense in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
It was a momentous occasion for the Black Cats with the club's first European football away day for over five decades, but the Portuguese second tier side drew first blood with an outstanding long-range strike from centre-back Volnei Feltes.
Sunderland went into the interval chasing the game, with a clear lack of attacking dynamism from the Black Cats, which was quickly remedied by Le Bris just before the hour mark, with Enzo Le Fee, Granit Xhaka, Nordi Mukiele and Reinildo on for Malick Fofana, Nilson Angulo, Trai Hume and Dayann Methalie.
Almost ten minutes later, Sunderland found an equaliser through young midfielder Jules Ahoka, whose header found the bottom right corner of Torreense's goal following some excellent work from impactful substitute Mukiele down the right flank.
The Black Cats had momentum and confidence for victory in their favour, and their efforts were rewarded in the final moments of injury time, as Noah Sadiki's venomous strike secured a comeback win for Sunderland in stunning style with his first Sunderland goal.
Following the historic win, Sunderland Roundtable runs through the key conclusions from the Europa League comeback.
What We Learned From Sunderland 2-1 Torreense
Sunderland Youngsters Shine In Europe
Regis Le Bris made several changes from Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Brighton, seeing the likes of young prospects Timur Tutierov, Jules Ahoka and Chris Rigg start the clash.
Tutierov had an early goal ruled out due to Omar Alderete's foul and worked extremely hard in the abscence of Wilson Isidor and Brian Brobbey.
However, it was Ahoka who was the most impressive young Sunderland talent on the field, and it is that Sunderland have found a future gem in the former Royal Antwerp starlet.
The DR Congo youth international netted the imperative equaliser with a deft header and was impressive in every area of the pitch for Sunderland on just the 20-year-old's second appearance since arriving in the summer window.

However, Sunderland wingers Fofana and Angulo once again failed to impress following their respective flat displays against Brighton last weekend, seeing Le Bris withdraw both wideman after less than an hour played.
Far too often both players would turn back rather than take on their full-back, and unfortunately, Sunderland looked much more dangerous in attack following Le Bris' substituions.
Given the two cost the Black Cats almost £50m combined, Sunderland boss Le Bris clearly needs to see further contribution from the attacking pair in the coming stages of the season.

As a result of the duo's poor performance out wide, Le Bris turned to central midfielders and full-backs to change the game for Sunderland, and the Frenchman was rewarded for his tactical tweaks.
Although Le Fee was uncharacterisically quiet, both maruading full-backs Reinildo and Mukiele injected some much-needed dynamism on both flanks for Sunderland in place of Fofana and Angulo, seeing the former PSG star whip a wonderful cross in to provide the assist for Ahoka's equalising header.
Midfield metronome Xhaka was typically imperative, creating the most chances (four) of any player on the field despite playing just 38 minutes, with the substitute skipper using his experience and nouse to thankfully helping swing the tie in Sunderland's favour.
Overall, it was not a vintage win or performance by any means from Sunderland, with the lack of attacking flair yet again a concern for Le Bris to contend with going forward into this weekend's trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Although it was not a stylish win, the substance behind it is two wins from two in the Europa League in both home and away fixtures, and the scenes of Sadiki and his Sunderland teammates celebrating his emphatically stunning winner with the travelling supporters in the stands could be the emotive moment that kickstarts the Black Cats' campaign.
