The world-class Arsenal talent has been tipped to make a potential move to Celtic in January.
The international break is almost over and it will be very interesting to see what version of Celtic shows up at the weekend. We have already seen a couple of versions of the Hoops this season, even though there have only been a couple of months of football.
Coming into the new season, Celtic had looked confident and like a much better team than the one that won the double in the previous campaign. The 3-0 win at home against LASK was a particular highlight.
But then, they would go on to lose the second leg 5-1, failing to qualify for the Champions League once again. Since then, the performances have been shaky and the early confidence has seemed lost.
So, the upcoming winter transfer window is going to be a vital one for Celtic. They need to turn things around. And could we see an elite Arsenal talent don the green-and-white jersey soon?
Celtic tipped to make move for Arsenal talent
According to The Herald, Emile Heskey said: "The sky's the limit for him. Even if he went on loan in January, I think by next season he could return and be a regular at Arsenal."
Heskey has suggested that Celtic and Rangers could be potential destinations for Dowman: "The only question is, where do you want to play him, and what position suits him best? Celtic or Rangers would be an interesting move.
"It'd be tough, but as the two biggest clubs up there, their style of football would likely match what Arsenal want to do, and he'd get regular game time."
Dowman, who is still just 16 years of age, has made 15 appearances for Arsenal already and scored three goals already.
It goes without saying that Dowman is considered one of the brightest talents in the Premier League. But the question is, how much of an impact would he realistically have on Celtic?
Is Max Dowman the answer for Celtic?
At the end of the day, Dowman is still just 16 years old. So, it would be very difficult for the Arsenal wonderkid to establish himself as a starter for a club like Celtic at this point in time.
What Celtic need right now are game-changers. For all the talent that Dowman has - and he has plenty - is he an instant game-changer for Celtic?
For Dowman, a move to Celtic could work out quite well. He would get the chance to play in a team that is consistently competing for trophies, which would make sense for someone who is expected to be a regular for Arsenal some years down the line.
But for the time being, there is nothing to suggest that something like that is in the works in the background. Celtic have been pretty active in recent years when it comes to signing youngsters on loan from the Premier League.
Also, Arsenal might just want to keep Dowman at the club rather than send him out on loan. That is what they did with Bukayo Saka and it worked out quite well.
