Celtic remain in talks to sign the elite winger, who could be available for around €9.5 million.
It will be very interesting to see how Celtic go about strengthening their squad in the remainder of this summer window. So, they have already lost a ton of quality in the form of Daizen Maeda, Kelechi Iheanacho and Marcelo Saracchi.
On top of that, it is starting to look likely that both Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels will leave as well. That is at least four starting-level players departing, possibly even five.
On the other hand, they have signed Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh. And let us just say that their competitive debuts for Celtic did not impress the fans, especially the latter's.
One would hope that there are more fresh faces arriving between now and the end of the window. And one of them could prove to be an excellent signing in more ways than one.
Celtic pushing to sign quality winger
According to Sebastien Vidal, Celtic are pressing for Fares Ghedjemis. An initial offer of €7 million was rejected by Frosinone, who are demanding €9.5 million for their Algerian winger. Discussions are still ongoing.
Celtic also have the chance to sign the winger from right under the Rangers' noses. It is believed that the Ibrox side have seen a £8 million bid turned down by Frosinone.
There is not a world of difference between that offer and what the Italian club want though, if the report is accurate. So, Celtic might need to move quickly and with purpose, if they want to get a deal done to sign Ghedjemis.
Why Ghedjemis can be an excellent signing
It is not hard to see why Ghedjemis has drawn the interest of both Glasgow clubs this summer. He simply was phenomenal in the previous campaign for Frosinone as they earned promotion to Serie A.
The Algerian winger scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 37 Serie B outings last season. But it is not just about those stats. The underlying numbers were even more impressive.

Ghedjemis was the top winger in Serie B for goals, expected goals, xG on target, shots, shots on target, touches in the opposition box and successful dribbles. And he was in the 97th percentile for expected assists, chances created, and big chances created. Also, he was in the 96th percentile for successful passes and touches.
Can that translate to the Scottish Premiership? I do not know. But what is very clear is that his production was elite, perhaps even beyond that, in Serie B last season. That might be well worth taking a risk on.
