It looks like Celtic are closing in on a £7 million transfer signing after the player's public admission regarding a summer exit.
The negativity around Celtic Park has grown over the past few days. Firstly, this is because of the failure to keep Kelechi Ihenacho and Marcelo Saracchi. They were two key players last season, and played an integral role in helping win the double.
Even more worryingly, both had seemed keen on staying on at Celtic. Yet the club failed to reach an agreement with them.
Of course, the pre-season results have not helped either. With two draws and a loss so far, Martin O'Neill's side continue to search for their first win.
And while we know that results don't matter in pre-season, with the new campaign just two weeks away, a few wins under the belt would have done the confidence no harm.
Celtic seemingly closing in on £7 million signing
The only signing Celtic have made so far is the addition of Camilo Duran, who to be fair, has scored a couple of goals in pre-season already.
So, that could prove to be good recruitment. On the other hand, it looks like a second signing might be getting closer as well, if the latest indications are anything to go by.
According to The National, Celtic appear to be closing in on a £7 million move for Egyptian international Haissem Hassan, who would prefer to leave his club, Real Oviedo, following their relegation from La Liga.
Hassan seemed to strongly hint at a potential exit this summer as he said: "I haven't spoken to anyone at Oviedo yet, but I have one year left on my contract and nobody is untouchable at a club like this.
"Football is a business and, at my age, I think I can bring in some money for the club.
"But I don't know what will happen.
"It was a learning season for me with Real Oviedo in La Liga and we've all made mistakes.
"It was a difficult season - you saw an Oviedo team that wasn't used to this level, but we didn't imagine it would be this tough.
"On a personal level? I've had my ups and downs, good times and not-so-good times. So I needed a break after the season both physically and mentally.
"I'm very happy in Oviedo. They've always treated me well and I've experienced the best time of my career here.
"Oviedo will always be a part of my heart, but we'll see what happens.
"I don't know if I'll stay or not."
Those seem to be the comments of a player who is eyeing the exit door and keeping his options open.
Hassan would be a good signing for Celtic in an area of need
Someone like Hassan could be a good signing for Celtic. He proved himself as a talent at the World Cup with his performances.
While Real Oviedo were relegated last season, with Hassan registering no goals and three assists, the underlying numbers showed promise.
Of course, it is always going to be difficult for a winger to showcase his best while playing for the bottom team in a league. That does not mean he could not produce some quality moments when playing for a front-foot team like Celtic.
Celtic certainly need a bit more quality on the flanks. The club did try to address the area last summer, but did not get satisfactory results from their new additions.
Michel-Ange Balikwisha had been tracked for over a year before being signed from Royal Antwerp. One can only wonder what the scouts had seen from him in Belgium.
Balikwisha only played a handful of games after arrival before being frozen out of first-team plans completely.
Sebastian Tounekti did continue to get regular game time. But after a bright start to life at Celtic, his form quickly faded away.
By the end of the season, he was viewed as one of the weak links in the team by the supporters.
