Celtic fans were not happy with Martin O'Neill's decision against Dundee United.
Martin O'Neill will forever be a Celtic legend, but he is starting to lose the trust of a large section of the fanbase with some of his recent decision-making.
Unfortunately, that has once again been the case in their game against Dundee United. And with Celtic going into the break a goal down, it is not hard to see why the fans are not happy with O'Neill's decisions once again.
Celtic have looked shaky for quite some time now and the fans would have hoped for this to be a more complete performance from the Hoops. Instead, this has turned out to be another display worth forgetting.
Celtic go into half-time a goal down vs Dundee United
Celtic had taken the early lead through Camilo Duran, but then conceded twice against the visitors to go into half-time trailing at home.
Almost inexplicably, Duran, who has been Celtic's best player by a country mile this season, has been played out wide while Kasper Hogh has been given another start up top.
Unsurprisingly, the fans were not happy with the call. One wrote: "Hogh is doing more harm than good for the side. Stands giving thumbs up to everyone."
Of course, it is not all down to Hogh either. This might not be a system that brings out the best in him, or anyone, to be honest.
Hogh is a striker. But one would argue that both Duran and Callum Osmand are also players who are at their best playing through the middle. So, basically, O'Neill has deployed a trio of strikers up top.
As one fan pointed out: "There is no point in playing a penalty box striker like Hogh and then not playing anyone that can create chances for him."
Martin O'Neill needs to make a Hogh decision quickly
The Hogh experiment quite simply is not working. He has scored in just one game, albeit a hat-trick, since his arrival at Celtic. We are set to enter November. So, some tough decisions need to be made.
The needs of the team must be put ahead of trying to justify the record fee that was paid to sign Hogh.
Now, to be fair, Hogh did play his part in Duran's goal in the first half. But overall, as long as he is not scoring as Celtic's number 9, he cannot continue to start games on a regular basis.
Duran is without a doubt Celtic's best source of goals right now. And putting him out wide wastes that to a certain extent as well, while having a striker that is struggling to find the back of the net.
All of these games without a goal are not doing Hogh's confidence any good either. Either he scores early in the second half, or O'Neill needs to change things up quickly.
