Celtic fans will love what Germany national team manager, Jurgen Klopp, has said.

Celtic made several signings this summer. But there are serious question marks around the quality of some of the additions that the Hoops have made.

One area that seems to have been particularly weakened over the summer is their midfield. Arne Engels left in a Championship-record move to join West Ham United. Reo Hatate followed soon afterwards, joining Burnley.

It has been suggested in recent times that Martin O'Neill was not happy with the club's failure to replace Engels this summer. But if Jurgen Klopp's comments are anything to go by then they might have an elite talent on their hands with Mika Baur.

Baur was handed his international debut by Klopp recently, as he appeared against Serbia. And the German manager seems to rate the Celtic midfielder very highly.

Jurgen Klopp makes fantastic claim about Celtic midfielder

According to BuliNews, Klopp said when talking about Baur: “We’ve really seen now that he's a wonderful footballer.

“There is a player at a multiple-time Champions League winner who constantly reminds me of him. Not just in terms of his appearance, but also in terms of his overall qualities.”

While Klopp did not end up naming the player directly, there are many who think that it is Vitinha that the manager was referring to.

If that is indeed the case, then Celtic fans should hold very high hopes for the player Baur can develop into, given time. Vitinha is an elite midfielder, arguably the very best on the planet.

It remains to be seen if Baur is able to show his best form in Celtic colours following this international break. The debut for Germany should give him a world of confidence and will hopefully help him take his game to the next level.

Baur made some interesting history in the process as well. He became the 1000th player in DFB history when he stepped onto the pitch against Serbia.

Celtic need some inspiration after the international break

Celtic do need some players to step up after the international break. They are currently on a three-game losing streak as things stand.

Two losses at the hands of the Rangers sandwich a Europa League opener defeat against Ferencvaros.

Of course, winning is the most important thing at a club like Celtic. O'Neill will know that quite well, having known life in Glasgow for almost three decades now.

Can Baur be one of the players who can get Celtic out of the position they find themselves in right now? Or will the Hoops continue to struggle after the international break as well? If it is the latter, it could spell the end for O'Neill's second stint in charge of the club.
