Celtic are pushing to find an agreement with the 22-goal striker as they seek to strengthen their forward ranks this summer.

Celtic should be looking to strengthen their forward ranks this summer. There are two clear and distinct reasons for that.

Firstly, the club lacked goals in the 25/26 season. Their numbers were nowhere near what they usually manage. In fact, they scored 39 fewer goals than the previous Premiership campaign, which is a staggering number to say the least.

Then there is the matter of players leaving. Daizen Maeda is widely expected to finally complete an exit after five seasons with the Hoops. Kelechi Iheanacho's future remains unclear as he was only handed a one-year deal, with the option for another.

As for Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu, do not expect to see them in a Celtic shirt again after how poor their loan campaigns turned out to be.

One mistake that Celtic made last season was signing strikers who simply were not in form. That was true for both Cvancara and Adamu. It was unsurprising when it did not work out as a result.

It does look like Celtic are now trying to rectify that mistake. They have set their eyes on a striker who is coming off the best campaign of his career.

Also, according to Sky Sport, Celtic have accelerated their pursuit to sign Elias Filet. A video conference between representatives of the Scottish club and the player's agent took place on Tuesday.

Celtic's management's priority is now clear. They want to reach a contractual agreement with Filet before entering into official negotiations with FC Aarau.

Filet is a French striker who is currently on the books of Swiss club FA Aarau. He is 24 years of age and managed to score 22 goals across all competitions in the previous season.

That was pretty much the best output of his career. Now, that seems to have caught the eye of Celtic, as well as other clubs.

Obviously, there are going to be question marks over whether he will be able to deal with the jump in quality that Filet will face if he ends up joining Celtic.

It is one thing scoring goals in the second division of Swiss football, and a completely different thing doing it for Celtic, when you're facing low blocks week in, week out.

The one positive though is that Celtic are trying to sign a striker who is actually scoring goals at the moment. The importance of that cannot and should not overlooked when recruiting forwards.
