Celtic will be looking to strengthen their squad this summer. At least that is the hope of the club's supporters. Even though they were able to win a double this season, their performances and results were not up to the mark of the Hoops.

Celtic will need to add options in several areas of the pitch. One of them is expected to be their midfield.

Reo Hatate looks almost certain to leave, having barely played towards the end of the season. That was a sad ending to what has been a phenomenal Celtic career.

Other than that, Arne Engels is another player who has been linked with a move away lately as well, with clubs supposedly ready to pay north of £20 million to sign him. Celtic resisted in the winter, but they might not be able to do the same again.

Benjamin Nygren is another player who is being linked with a move away after a stellar debut campaign, at least in terms of his output.

And then there is also Paulo Bernardo, who has not played much this season and it would be logical for him to seek an exit this summer.

So, Celtic could find themselves in need of multiple midfielders in the summer window. An article from 67 Hail Hail has suggested Elliot Watt of Motherwell as a potential option for the Hoops.

With Jens Berthel Askou leaving Motherwell already, it would come as no surprise if a number of their players headed towards the exit door as well. Watt is someone who is expected to be in demand.

He has played the most passes per game in the Premiership this season, even surpassing Callum McGregor.

His range of passes have been impressive as well, as it is very clear that he knows how to keep a game ticking.

He has completed the most passes as well as crosses, and is in the 90th percentile when it comes to chances created.

He is also a very solid dribbler and completes almost 70% of his attempts. But on the other hand, the defensive side of his game is impressive as well.

He has completed the most recoveries and is in the 92nd percentile when it comes to defensive contributions.

So, on paper, it looks like Watt could be someone who can be a solid understudy to McGregor and perhaps even take over from the captain a few years down the line, with him turning 33 next month.
