Chris Sutton has reacted to Rangers hero Ally McCoist's rant regarding Celtic after the recent announcement.

There has been some discussion regarding the post-split fixtures in the Scottish Premiership after they were announced recently. The biggest talking point coming out of it might be the fact that Celtic will be at home on the final day, when they will be taking on Hearts.

That could very well turn out to be a title decider. This has been the most exciting title race in Scottish football in decades, with three teams in with a chance to win the league going into the post-split fixtures.

That being said, you cannot ask for a better final day fixture than two of them taking on each other. On the other hand, the Rangers will make the away trip to Falkirk.

Celtic do have a slight advantage, as they will be playing three of their last post-split fixtures at home. That is just the luck of the draw, though. But some might not agree with that view.

According to the Daily Record, Ally McCoist said: "Well, they are running the thing up here aren't they? That's why. They are absolutely running it, mate. They have got four of the last six at home, and we have got four of six away - you couldn't make it up pal."

Well, Chris Sutton had a response ready for McCoist, as the former Celtic striker decided to point out the obvious.

One could argue that Celtic have an advantage, but they clearly were not handed anything. In fact, why not view this as the Rangers having more home games in the pre-split fixtures and not making the most of it.

To be very honest, there is no reason to look too deeply into this. Nothing is off. It has played out exactly as it was always going to.

Also, at the end of the day, this is not a huge advantage for Celtic. Yes, they do have more home games. But we have seen them lose a few times at Parkhead this season.

They will need to raise their game if they want to go out and finish the season on a high note. They almost need to be perfect over their final six games.

Fortunately, Hearts' draw at the weekend did bring them straight back into the mix of things. All of the top three are going to be playing against each other over the coming weeks. So, this title race is as open as it can be.

Based on recent form, it is almost impossible to predict who will come out on top. But Celtic do have that home advantage, which they need to make the most of. And they also have the experience of getting over the finish line on numerous occasions in the past. Hopefully, they will put that to good use and win the league for the fifth time on the trot. That would be a tremendous send-off for Martin O'Neill.
