The Celtic transfer target has admitted that he expects a summer move to take place.
Celtic's midfield could be set to undergo a lot of changes this summer. Let us start with the most obvious one. It feels almost certain that Reo Hatate will leave after how the campaign ended for him. Despite his experience and quality, he barely got on the pitch as the Hoops chased the league and Scottish Cup double.
It would come as a major surprise if Hatate did not leave this summer. But he is not the only one who could head for the exit door.
Arne Engels was on the receiving end of a transfer bid north of £20 million in the winter. While the club were not ready to do business in the middle of the season, that might not be the case in the summer window.
Benjamin Nygren could be another possible departee. He has enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign and was even named player of the season. While he might not always get the credit he deserves, one cannot deny that Celtic would not have remained in the title race without his goals from midfield.
Then there is Paulo Bernardo. The Portuguese midfielder has barely featured and it looks inevitable that he will try to leave.
As a result, expect Celtic to try and sign multiple midfielders this summer. And it looks like one of their supposed transfer targets is expecting a move to take place, although the destination remains unclear.
We are talking about Felix Horn Myrhe of Brann. He was linked with a move to Celtic in the winter but it did not end up happening.
But while speaking with Adresseavisen (via Football Insider), he said:
”I want to try something new at some point, but not at any cost. If something exciting comes along, I might want to.
“If not, I’m fine here. I think it will (happen this summer). I actually expect it. I have to deal with it when it comes.”
Myrhe plays for Brann and has also appeared six times for the Norwegian national team. So, he is one of the best in his league, there can be no doubt about that.
The midfielder has also played for teams like Valerenga and Bodo/Glimt in the past, two names Celtic fans will be very familiar with.
He is also 27 years of age. So, he is heading towards his prime. This would not be a project signing by any means. One would expect someone like Myrhe to come in and hit the ground running.
Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move for him in this summer transfer window or not.
Just because they wanted to bring him in in the winter does not mean that they will have the same plans for the summer as well. That being said, Celtic are known to follow players over multiple windows. So, if they do, it would not come as a surprise either.
