The international manager has been tipped to replace Martin O'Neill as the next Celtic boss.
Will Martin O'Neill remain the Celtic manager come the end of this ongoing international break? It does feel like he will be.
While there has been a lot of speculation around his future, the club do not seem to have much appetite for making a change right now.
It is easy to see why that is the case. Celtic did have to change managers in the middle of last season after Brendan Rodgers decided to walk away, and the Wilfried Nancy stint is proof of how difficult it can be.
Ultimately, it might not even come down to what Celtic want. Let us not forget that O'Neill is 74 years of age and is believed to have faced some health issues in recent months. The Parkhead job is a high-pressure one. He might just decide that he has had enough, especially is results do not improve.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for O'Neill. But Celtic must remain prepared for a possible scenario in which the Northern Irishman might decide to resign.
Celtic tipped to bring in Welsh manager as Martin O'Neill's replacement
Conall McGinty has suggested that in the scenario that O’Neill resigns, Celtic should move for Craig Bellamy.
McGinty has argued that unlike Scott Brown, Steve Clarke and Alex Neil, all of who have also been linked with the Celtic job, Bellamy has the potential to be a very good manager. We know the other three’s limitations.
Obviously, there has been a ton of talk about Bellamy as a potential future Celtic manager. He has a history with the club as well, having played for the Hoops, albeit for a very short stint.
Does he have the credentials for the Parkhead job though? Would Bellamy even want to be the Celtic manager?
Is Craig Bellamy the right man for the job?
So far, it has always been claimed that Bellamy is committed to the Wales national team job and wants to continue in that role.
He has been able to carve out a strong reputation for himself in management while the Wales boss. Of course, Celtic would be a whole different ball game, especially when it comes to the results that would be expected of him.
Not everybody is cut out to deal with that constant pressure of expectations, week in and week out. Especially someone in the early phases of his managerial career, like Bellamy.
That being said, there is a lot to like about Bellamy as well and it would not come as a surprise if the club end up pursuing his signature, in case O'Neill does decide to quit.
