Celtic have been linked on and off with Kjetil Knutsen for a long time, but what does the manager want next?

Who will be the next Celtic manager? Well, if the fans have their say, there is a decent chance Kjetil Knutsen would get the job. The Hoops will be familiar with what the Norwegian is capable of from when he completely outplayed Ange Postecoglou's side in the Conference League.

Bodo/Glimt have only grown since then. The Conference League days are well behind them. And how far they have come under Knutsen's watch is immensely impressive.

Last season, they made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League. This season, they did one better. They made it to the Champions League Round of 16. Along the way, they won against Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and beat Serie A leaders Inter Milan in both legs of their play-off tie.

After winning 3-0 against Sporting Lisbon in the first leg, it had looked like a spot in the final 8 was as good as booked. Unfortunately, the unforeseen happened and Knutsen's side lost 5-0 in the second leg in Portugal to get knocked out of the Champions League.

It was a run for the ages though. Knutsen's reputation has grown several times over the past few months. And one would imagine some top teams are interested.

As TV 2 report, Strasbourg and Celtic were among the clubs that had shown concrete interest in the past.

But what does Knutsen think about his own future amid all the interest in his services? He said: "When a team does well, there will always be interest around it. You have to learn to handle and live with that."

Knutsen then pretty much rules out the idea of an immediate exit: "For me it will be very easy. I have committed to Bodø/Glimt and then I am 100 percent in Glimt."

Well, that is that when it comes to Celtic's interest in signing the Bodo/Glimt boss. And to be honest, after how well the Norwegian side did in the Champions League this season, if he did leave, the Hoops would have a tough time convincing him to come to the Scottish Premiership.

So, we ask again, who will be the next Celtic manager? Martin O'Neill is set to step down at the end of the season when his run as interim boss ends. The Northern Irishman has shown interest in continuing at Parkhead but in a role off the pitch.

Celtic got their previous appointment very wrong. Wilfried Nancy lost six of his eight games in charge of the club. This time around, they need to be going for someone who has experience managing in Europe and also understands what the Parkhead job means.

Names like Robbie Keane, Jens Berthel Askou and Roberto Martinez have been doing the rounds consistently over the last few months. And one would imagine that a few others will crop up between now and the end of the season.

One man who is almost certain not to end up in the Celtic hot seat is Knutsen, although he would have been a tremendous appointment.
