It looks like Lionel Messi's Inter Miami are interested in the Celtic player, who is widely expected to leave this summer.

With not much more time left in the summer transfer window, it looks like Celtic are heading for a busy period once again, although, they have been more active this time around than previous years. More signings are needed.

They have signed four players so far. Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh have reinforced the forward line following the exits of Daizen Maeda and Kelechi Iheanacho. Mika Baur has arrived in midfield. And Haissem Hassan has been added to the flanks.

In terms of big exits, Arne Engels' £22 million move to West Ham United surely falls under that category. And now, it looks like another midfielder could be heading for the exit door.

Could Celtic player join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami?

According to Fuad Alakbarov, Reo Hatate is attracting growing interest ahead of a potential Celtic exit. Panathinaikos are expected to make a move for the Celtic midfielder. Inter Miami, Middle Eastern and European clubs are also keeping tabs on the Japanese international.

Hatate is someone who has been linked with a move away from Celtic for years now, going back to his second season with the club. But for one reason or another, it has never happened.

Now 28 years of age, he is widely expected to leave this summer. He simply has not been a big enough part of Martin O'Neill's plans, as the manager has preferred other midfielders ahead of the Japanese international.

Would a chance to play alongside Lionel Messi, most likely the greatest of all time, be enough to convince Hatate to make the move to the MLS? Or would he want to hold out for a move to one of Europe's top five leagues?

Hatate leaving is the right step

On his day, Hatate is probably the best midfielder in the entire Premiership. But the issue is that he is very inconsistent as a player.

We have seen that over the years. So, if Celtic can bring in a significant transfer fee, it might not be a bad idea to consider Hatate's exit. It might be the best step for all parties involved.

It would a significant shake up in the Celtic midfield though. Engels has already left for West Ham United. Paulo Bernardo has gone out on loan as well. And now, it looks like Hatate could also be on his way out.

On the other hand, Baur has arrived from SC Paderborn. And several other midfielders have been linked with Celtic as well.
