Celtic fans appear to agree with what Chris Sutton said following Celtic's win over Motherwell.
Celtic knew that they needed to get a win at the weekend, having gone into the international break on a three-game losing streak. And to be fair, the Hoops did get the job done.
It could have very easily turned out to be a tricky contest away against Motherwell. The hosts have given Celtic a lot of problems in recent years.
This time around though, Celtic did look in control for the most part. An early goal from Camilo Duran put them ahead and the lead was doubled by Benjamin Nygren in the second half. The game finished 2-0 in favour of the Hoops.
There was one player in particular who caught the eye with his display against Motherwell though.
Chris Sutton praises Celtic player, fans agree
Writing soon after the game between Celtic and Motherwell, Chris Sutton said: "As comfortable as I’ve seen a Celtic team at Motherwell. Dominated from minute one. Outstanding performance but not ruthless enough in front of goal. Baur superb. Great to see Jota back after his long layoff."
Baur was truly excellent on the day. There have been a lot of question marks around this Celtic midfield following the summer departures of players like Arne Engels and Reo Hatate.
If Baur can continue to perform like this consistently, Celtic might not have too much to worry about regarding their midfield.
The fans seem to agree with Sutton's assessment of the German midfielder as well. One wrote: "Mika Baur absolutely brilliant today! Having a young German international is crazy!"
Another wrote: "Mika Baur was easily man of the match today. Unreal performance."
Mika Baur can be a shining light for Celtic
Baur was excellent at the weekend. It also feels like he might be a lot more confident, having made his full German national team debut recently under Jurgen Klopp.
Duran is largely regarded by most as the club's best signing of the summer, but if Baur continues to perform at this level, he will soon be in that conversation as well.
At the same time, it perhaps best to be a bit cautious and not get carried away. The real tests for Celtic lie ahead.
Their next game will be in the Europa League, away in Portugal, against Benfica. That is where someone like Baur will need to step up and show that he is the kind of player Celtic should build their team around.
As for the rest of the Celtic players, they deserve their fair share of credit for the team's performance against Motherwell as well. It ended a three-game losing run. But now, it is important to build upon it.
A positive result against Benfica in midweek will go a long way in restoring some of this Celtic team's lost confidence. But if they lose, they will be back to square one.
