The Scottish FA have made an official announcement regarding the game between Motherwell and Celtic.

Celtic will return to action following a three-week international break when they take on Motherwell away from home. With the Rangers already winning this weekend, the pressure is on Martin O'Neill's side to produce a positive result to remain atop the Premiership table at the end of this matchday.

That is easier said than done though, especially for a Celtic side that is completely out of form and clearly short of confidence.

They went into the international break on the back of a three-game losing streak. Even losing once is often considered a crisis at a club like Celtic.

So, I do not need to tell you what losing thrice on the treat means, even more so when two of them came against the Rangers.

So, a win against Motherwell will go a long way in restoring some confidence in this team. But if they fail to take home all three points again, that would only intensify the questions around the club as a whole.

Scottish FA announce Motherwell vs Celtic officials

The Scottish FA have announced the officials for the upcoming game between Motherwell and Celtic. Steven McLean has been named the referee. Jonathan Bell and Ross Wilson will be the two assistants.

Don Robertson is set to be the one on VAR duty and he will be assisted by Calum Scott. George Calder will be the fourth official.

Obviously, the officials often end up becoming a topic of discussion in Scottish football. One would hope that no bad decisions are made in this game which end up having an impact on the overall result.

Celtic must win against Motherwell

Celtic will be looking to get a win against Motherwell this weekend. There is no doubt about that. That is very much the minimum expectation from O'Neill's side.

When you consider how poorly the Rangers had started off this campaign, it is remarkable that they could be top of the table by the end of this weekend.

But that just goes to show how bad Celtic have been as well. Unfortunately, this has been the running theme of things for the past few years now.

It is not just on the players or the coaching staff, but on how the club has been run, consistently weakening the squad every summer by allowing key players to leave, sometimes inexplicably, and then failing to replace them with those of similar or better quality.
