Martin O'Neill has confirmed some more bad news for Celtic, as a player has re-injured himself and looks set to miss the rest of the season.
The bad news keeps coming for Celtic. With six more league games left to be played, they need to be almost perfect if they want to finish this campaign by lifting a fifth straight Premiership trophy and hopefully another Scottish Cup.
They are not being helped by their injury problems though. One area that is being particularly tested at this time is right-back.
Alistair Johnston, Julian Araujo and Colby Donovan are out injured. That leaves Anthony Ralston, pretty much fourth in the pecking order, as the only option available to Martin O'Neill.
Earlier, Johnston had suffered a setback while training with the Canadian national team. And now, it looks like Araujo has re-injured himself while away at Bournemouth and might not play again this season.
While speaking with the media during a press conference, O'Neill said regarding the status of Araujo: " Julian reinjured himself under supervision of Bournemouth. So that is a real blow. I've only found that out today. And I don't think we will see him for the rest of the season."
That might very well be the end of Araujo's time as a Celtic player. He did become a fan favourite in the short time that he was at Parkhead. But injury problems seem to have cut short his season. It is hard to imagine that the club will go out and sign someone who spent most of his loan spell out injured.
That leaves Celtic's right-back situation even more stretched. But fortunately, there is a positive update when it comes to Johnston.
It looks like whatever setback Johnston suffered while away with the Canada national team was not particularly serious. He has already been pictured back training with Celtic and that news was confirmed by O'Neill as well during the same press conference.
There is even a possibility that Johnston could be available for selection as early as next week. That is great news for Celtic, who have dealt only one injury blow after another over the course of the season.
For now, the focus has to shift back towards the task at hand, which is their upcoming game against St Mirren at home. The two teams will meet next weekend as well, but that time in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
St Mirren do have some confidence to take from the fact that they did beat Celtic in the final of the Scottish League Cup, quite convincingly earlier in the season.
As for Araujo, if this is indeed the end of the road for him in a Celtic shirt, we would like to thank him for his service. He seemed to get what it meant to play for the Hoops and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward. And who knows, maybe the future still brings him to Parkhead.
