The Scottish FA have made an official announcement regarding the upcoming Motherwell vs Celtic game that fans won't like.

With two games left to be played in the league, Celtic know what they need to do. Win both and they are guaranteed to be champions of Scotland. But that is easier said than done.

Up next for Celtic is an away trip to take on Motherwell. That might very well be their toughest fixture on the post-split schedule.

A lot of people believe that Motherwell have been the best footballing side in the Scottish Premiership this season. Jens Berthel Askou's side are in good form as well.

In post-split fixtures, they have already defeated the Rangers and drawn against league leaders Hearts. Now, they might be keen to prove a point against Celtic.

Celtic are coming off the back of arguably their best result in months as they beat the Rangers 3-1 at Parkhead. This was the first Glasgow Derby they won inside 90 minutes in the last ten attempts and by the end of it, it was somewhat comfortable, which is something we have rarely got to say this season. So, that should give them a lot of confidence.

Of course, the performances no longer matter at this point in the season. Celtic just need to find a way to win their next two games. Everything else can be sorted out later.

Amid all this, the Scottish FA have announced on their website the officials for the game between Celtic and Motherwell. John Beaton will be the referee. David McGeachie and Jonathan Bell will be his two assistants on the day. Andrew Dallas will be on VAR duty with Sean Carr assisting him.

There is not much that needs to be said about the history between Celtic and Beaton. Interestingly, he was also on VAR duty during the Glasgow Derby.

Of course, both sets of fans will be hoping that there are no controversial and match-defining decisions made on the day by the officials. What we need is a clear winner, without any debate coming out of the game.

Even neutrals will probably be hoping for a Celtic victory on the day, as that would set up arguably the most exciting final day of Scottish football in decades.

It would essentially mean that the winner of the game between Celtic and Hearts on the final matchday of the league season would be crowned champions of Scotland.

It does not get better than that. Let's hope we get the chance to experience it. Often in the past, the Scottish title race has been boring or one-sided.

The same thing cannot be said this time around and we might be setting up for the grand finale. But for that to happen, Celtic will need to take care of business tonight and defeat Motherwell in their own backyard, probably the toughest task in Scottish football right now.
