It has been suggested that West Ham United are keeping an eye on the highly-rated Celtic forward.
It would not be a bad idea for Celtic to keep an eye on the teams that were relegated from the Premier League this season. Some of their players might be eyeing a way out. On the other hand, even the clubs might be looking to move on from a few in order to make the finances make sense after relegation.
One club that ended up dropping down to the Championship this season are West Ham United. It went right down to the wire but the Hammers ended up finishing 18th, just behind London rivals Tottenham, despite a dominant win on the final day of the campaign.
The club has been on a steady downward trajectory since moving on from manager David Moyes, incidentally a former Celtic player. Relegation completes that cycle of decline.
It remains to be seen if Celtic try to sign any of their players or not. But it does look like West Ham have their eyes on one of the Hoops' best talents.
According to Ekrem Konur, West Ham United are monitoring Callum Osmand as they prepare for life in the Championship. The interest is not new.
The Hammers are believed to have tracked Osmand since his Fulham days. No formal bid has been made at this point, and Celtic are unlikely to part ways with a player they signed only last summer.
Osmand has impressed in the few appearances that he has made for Celtic since joining from Fulham.
The highlight will clearly be the goal he scored on the final day of the league season to make it 3-1 against Hearts to seal the Premiership for Celtic and send the fans into a frenzy.
He would have played a lot more if not for a long-term injury that kept him out of action for several months.
Fans will be hoping to see a fit and available Osmand next season. He certainly has the potential to be a starting striker for Celtic in the future.
There are very few forwards who have come in as teenagers and made an impact for the Hoops. So, there is something special about Osmand for sure.
That being said, a lot will end up depending on the next manager and how he fits into his plans. If Martin O'Neill continues, that would be great news for Osmand. If Robbie Keane or somebody else comes in, it would be a fresh start.
As for West Ham United's interest, it is hard to see it happening, unless Osmand himself starts pushing for it.
