You know the saying, when it rains, it pours? Well, has a phrase ever been more apparent than it is for Rangers right now, as they suffer further bad injury news.
It really feels like simply nothing is going right for Rangers at the moment.
The team have taken just one point from their opening two games in the league, and need to overturn a 2-1 first leg deficit against Polish side Jagiellonia to keep their Europa League hopes for the season alive.
Then, there was the further bad news that striker Youssef Chermiti - whom had been linked with a big money move to Turkish Champions Galatasaray - suffered an ACL injury in the defeat at home to Hibernian on Sunday, meaning that for the majority of this season, the club will not get a fee for Chermiti nor the player's services on the pitch.
Well, when it rains, it pours. And there is further bad news on the injury front for Derek McInnes to contend with. Indeed so, as it is being reported by Rangers Review that Belgian Left-Back Tuur Rommens is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a groin strain.
They mention that the club had already been working on bringing in another player in that position, even prior to that injury. They were already a bit light in that department, but especially now.
Well, earlier on today, it was reported by Sky Sports Scotland that the club are in talks with Brentford over a deal to bring Jayden Meghoma back on another loan deal, having been at the club last season, playing 39 times in all competitions.
Truth be told, he was fairly average to above average in a lot of those games, but it would be another badly needed body through the door, and he is still only 20 years old, so he is still a player who can improve and develop a lot.
The Premier League outfit have been linked with signing left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from Championship side West Ham United in recent days, so if that deal goes through, it could perhaps give Rangers the green light when it comes to bringing Meghoma back for the season, but let's see.
Either way, this is far from ideal news. They say in football it is better to be lucky than to be good. Well, at the moment, Rangers are unlucky and they are bad, not a great recipe for success at all. If this does not wake up the board when it comes to making new signings, them nothing will.
