Rangers are reportedly ready to submit a second bid for the centre-forward before deadline day.
Rangers' start to the season has certainly not gone how new manager Derek McInnes would have wanted.
The Gers are yet to win a game in the Scottish Premiership and were even knocked out of the Europa League qualifying round earlier this month.
Now, after adding 11 new players to their squad this summer, the Light Blues are forced yet again to search the market for another centre-forward following Youssef Chermiti's devastating ACL injury, which he picked up while playing against Hibernian.
The Teddy Bears have already identified Portland Timbers striker Kevin Kelsy as one of the contenders to fill in for Chermiti this summer, and now, according to a recent report from Football Insider, Rangers are prepared to submit a second bid as they saw their previous bid of £7.4 million rejected by the MLS side.
Kelsy has already racked up 10 goals and provided three assists in all competitions for the US-based club this season, which has seemingly attracted a lot of attention from the Gers over the past couple of weeks.
McInnes has already brought in Lawrence Shankland to bolster the Light Blues' attack this season, from his former side Hearts during the initial days of this transfer window, but the Scottish international is seemingly not an out-and-out starter for the manager as of yet.
It was clearly evident during the first leg of the Gers' Conference League qualifier against FK Jablonec, as McInnes decided to start Ryan Naderi ahead of the Shankland at Ibox last week, as the 23-year-old scored their only goal of the night.
22-year-old Kelsy has a profile quite similar to Naderi, as the Venezuelan centre forward brings a towering presence to the attacking lineup at 6 feet 4 inches.
Kelsy has already featured 6 times for the Venezuelan national side on the international stage, and the youngster not only has Champions League experience to add to his resume but has also scored a goal in the elite European competition for his former side, Shakhtar Donetsk.
However, fans don't seem convinced by Gers' summer signings and have already raised concerns about the club's decision to push for Kelsy's transfer this summer.
As it seems, even if the player decides to return to Europe this term, the Gers will need to pay a significant transfer fee for Kelsy's services, which could well turn out to be another questionable recruitment by the club management this summer.
