Rangers centre forward and skipper, Lawrence Shankland has on Wednesday (the 7th of October) provided the fans and everyone else with an update on his recovery from a hamstring issue.

Around this time last month, it was confirmed that new Rangers signing and skipper Lawrence Shankland would have to go undergo surgery after picking up a hamstring injury early on in the 1-0 win over Motherwell at Ibrox.

Fans were worried if there would be enough goals in the meantime without the Scotland international, but the team have won all three games since the injury, so not too bad so far. That said, the team did score one solitary goal in two of those games, so his return would certainly be welcomed.

Well, there has been an update on the progress on that, by the man himself. On Wednesday (the 7th of October), Shankland said: "I'm getting there, slowly. Obviously, got (rid of) the crutches this week - it's been, you know, four weeks from my surgery, so things are looking good.

I was back out to see the specialist to get a bit of feedback, and things are going in the right direction, so, everything's good.

The hamstrings obviously healing well, after the surgery. It's just a check up to make sure everything was kind of where it was meant to be - you're going to need to speak to the medical team for a better description (laughs)."

Meanwhile, he also spoke about how it felt watching the 1-0 win at Parkhead last time out from the stands: "I actually was on the crutches and I didn't realise I'd stood up for the full first half until the half time whistle went. I'd been standing on one leg for 45 (minutes).

So listen, as I said, it's difficult to watch them and you want to be (out) there with the boys."

Fair play to him, seems like a good character and is taking the situation in good spirits, considering how frustrating it must be, which he did allude to. Let's hope he is back on the pitch as soon as possible.

One good thing about no European football is that he misses fewer games and that the players who will have to regularly fill in in his absence will not get too fatigued with just one game a week. That is certainly handy.

Still, once Shankland is back fit and firing, there is a serious team for Rangers manager Derek McInnes. It's down to him to now try and make this season a memorable one for the fans and everyone associated with the club. Let's see.
