Former Rangers striker Kemar Roofe has confirmed he remains a free agent as the 33-year-old attempts to secure another chance in football.
The former Rangers player has made his availability public, seeking another opportunity in professional football.
After two failed tries to rebuild his career in England, Roofe remains clubless. The 33-year-old posted a clip on Instagram with the caption, "I’m still a free agent."
In the video, the striker is performing shooting drills using a ball launcher to work on his volleys.
Roofe made the same post on LinkedIn, probably hoping to reach clubs before the 2026/27 campaign starts.
The two years since leaving Rangers haven't been easy for the Englishman. The striker's contract with the Gers expired in the summer of 2024.
It then took him almost a year to find another club as he signed a short-term deal with Derby County in February 2025.
However, a hamstring injury sidelined the 33-year-old, who missed 9 games for the Rams.
Unfortunately, Roofe only made three substitute appearances for the English side. No new terms were offered after the stint.
He then signed for his hometown side, Walsall, in November that same year. The initial agreement ran till January.
Roofe made four appearances for the League Two side before leaving in February and has been without a club since.
That means the 33-year-old has played only seven senior matches since his Rangers exit. It is a brutal return for a forward whose finishing ability was rarely in doubt during his time in Glasgow.
Signed from Anderlecht on a four-year contract in August 2020, Roofe scored 38 goals for the Light Blues.
His first campaign produced 18 of those strikes, including 14 in the league as Steven Gerrard’s side went unbeaten and secured title number 55.
The forward also collected Scottish Cup and League Cup winners’ medals, while his extraordinary effort from inside his own half against Standard Liege and extra-time winner against Braga remain among his most memorable Rangers moments.
However, injuries repeatedly interrupted Roofe’s final two seasons at Ibrox and have continued to shape his career since.
His quality and experience could still appeal to clubs seeking attacking depth, but proving he can remain available will inevitably be the decisive test.
The training footage shows that Roofe has not abandoned hopes of another comeback. Finding a club prepared to offer that chance, most likely on another short-term deal, might be the next step.
Considering the striker's injury history, a short-term contract would serve as insurance. Likewise, any interested club would therefore be sceptical before making the choice.
