Former Rangers striker Robbie Ure has admitted he would consider a return to Ibrox after establishing himself as a leading scorer in Sweden.
Former Rangers striker Robbie Ure has admitted he would consider returning to Ibrox in future after emerging as one of Sweden’s most prolific forwards.
The 22-year-old told Sky Sports that a Rangers reunion would be something he would ‘really think about’, saying there could be unfinished business at the club.
His comments made clear that a potential comeback is hypothetical rather than immediate.
He explained that Rangers was all he had known until the age of 19 and said another opportunity would mean a lot to many people.
The striker graduated from the academy and marked his senior debut by opening the scoring in a 3-1 League Cup victory over Queen of the South in August 2022.
However, Ure probably didn't expect to ever score again for his boyhood club. Unfortunately, that's what happened during his time with the first team.
Two substitute appearances didn't satisfy the striker, as he rejected an extension offer. After his contract expired in 2023, Ure started to find his footing elsewhere.
His search took him to Belgium, where he mostly appeared for Anderlecht's reserves, RSCA Futures. The Scotsman scored 11 league goals for them across two seasons.
For the senior side, though, Ure managed to make only one appearance in the Belgian top-flight.
Swedish side Sirius decided to take a chance on the striker in 2025. With Ure now getting regular minutes, he was back in business.
This season, he's scored 15 goals in 15 appearances in the Swedish top division, with his club currently 9th.
The apparent contrast between his performances and the club's positioning has attracted attention from all sides.
Ure is the top goalscorer in the league, and none of his goals has come from a penalty. However, he is overperforming both his xG (9.29) and xGOT (11.50).
Nevertheless, he's still at the top of the league in both the xG and xGOT contests. The striker has also averaged 51% shot accuracy throughout the season, the best in the league.
Reports suggest a demand of £9m might be possible from the Swedish side. Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Hoffenheim and Lyon are all interested, with Lecce already having a £3.3m offer rejected.
However, this isn't the best time for the Light Blues, who already have a horde of strikers at their disposal.
The financial commitment is also something that wouldn't attract the Scottish side, with McInnes trying his best to find reinforcements in other departments under a limited budget.
However, a future comeback is still possible. For now, though, he'll probably only be a matter of observation for the Gers.
