Olympiacos are ready to trigger Daniel Bragança’s €10 million valuation, leaving Wolves behind as the Sporting CP midfielder prepares to leave Portugal for European football.
Olympiacos are closing in on beating Wolves in the race to sign Daniel Bragança this summer as the Sporting CP head coach announces his imminent departure.
According to a report by Portuguese news outlet Record, Olympiacos have stood out as the main suitor in the race to sign Daniel Bragança in this transfer window. The Red and Whites are ready to pay €10 million in fees, including bonuses, for the midfielder's transfer. Our sources confirmed to us that Wolverhampton Wanderers had him shortlisted as part of the summer shopping programme.
This figure matches Sporting Lisbon's asking price for the player, and they are expected to accept Olympiacos' bid as soon as it arrives since all of their requirements are met. However, Bragança still has not made a definite call on his future and is assessing the interest from European clubs. Till now, only Olympiacos have emerged as the most interested party in acquiring his services.
The 27-year-old is aware that he is not part of Sporting CP's plans for this season, and must now find a club possibly away from Portugal.
Wolves are not putting much of an effort into signing Bragança. No considerable offers or negotiations took place between the two clubs to gauge the player's potential transfer, and Thrylos remains the only destination, which could provide him a shot at European football while being one of the first names on head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar's team sheet.
The Leões boss Rui Borges confirmed Bragança's plans to leave this summer in the pre-match press conference ahead of his side's Liga Portugal clash against Estrela Amadora. Borges said that the former Portugal U21 man and the club had agreed to seek his exit soon, so that he can begin a full campaign with renewed vigour.
In other news, Olympiacos continue their search for a left-back reinforcement following the departure of Francisco Ortega to River Plate. After probing the likes of Porto's Francisco Moura and Flamengo loanee Matias Vina at River Plate, they have now identified Sassuolo left-back Josh Doig as a potential option, as per an earlier report by Roundtable.
Since the Mendilibar-led side had talks with Porto last month to assess the transfer of Moura, and nothing has moved past from the preliminary contact, Olympiacos are now lining up alternatives for the left full-back role. Doig's signing could be tricky for the Greek giants as Premier League outfit Sunderland and Ligue 1 club Marseille are also interested in the player, and they are expected to pounce on any potential opportunity.
