The "Derby of the Eternal Enemies" ignites as unbeaten Panathinaikos visits Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium to face a resurgent Olympiacos side looking to reclaim dominance in this historic rivalry.
A blockbuster clash from the Stoiximan Super League is on the menu this Sunday (11 October 2026) as Olympiacos host eternal rivals Panathinaikos at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.
Olympiacos head into this clash on the back of a narrow 1-0 away victory over Levadiakos in the final match before the international break. While the game looked to be heading for a draw as Olympiacos repeatedly failed to convert the chances they created from the midfield and the three attacking midfielders, Manolis Saliakas rose and headed home the decider in added time from a Remo Freuler cross to help his team take home the three points.
The Super League Greece win followed the Red and Whites' UEFA Europa League triumph in the opening match over Polish top-flight side Jagiellonia Bialystok. Kajetan Szmyt opened the scoring under 20 minutes into the contest, but Olympiacos fought back as new signing Armando Gonzalez netted his first European goal before the break to level the scoreline. Later, Roman Yaremchuk found the net in the 84th minute to get themselves off to a winning start in the tournament.
As per an earlier report on Roundtable, Olympiacos have a competitive head-to-head advantage against Panathinaikos as tonight's hosts have recorded back-to-back wins over their opponents. In the last ten meetings, the game ended in four wins for the Piraeus club, four draws and just two wins for Panathinaikos.
Yaremchuk is expected to hit the bench after starting against Levadiakos, paving the way for La Hormiga to start. Head coach Imanol Alguacil is set to field a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Meanwhile, Panathinaikos feature in this derby after sealing five wins out of the five games played this season in the Greek top flight. Their last victory came against Kalamata where Andrews Tetteh's 33rd-minute strike stood as the difference between the two sides. Currently, they are on 15 points at the top of the table but things could change quickly if Olympiacos deal them a blow.
