Following a 2-1 victory over Serbia in their UEFA Nations League opener, Greece travel to the WWK Arena in Augsburg to face Germany in Matchday 2 of the group stage on 27 September 2026. 

Greece kicked off their Nations League campaign in the League A as an attempt to get back into relevance in the European Football sphere. They underwent back-to-back promotions from the League C of the competition to set themselves up in a group with Germany, Serbia and the Netherlands. 

Ethniki Omada had to make a stellar comeback against the Eagles in their previous outing to gather the three points and lead the group. Andrija Zivkovic opened the scoring for Serbia just under four minutes into the contest. Arsenal's Christos Tzolis levelled the score in the 74th minute, while Como man Anastasios Douvikas netted the winner in added time. Germany's draw against the Netherlands meant that Greece have a two-point cushion from Matchday 1 over the two other following teams. 

Ivan Jovanovic has been handed the task of managing a rising group of talented Greek footballers, including Olympiacos academy graduate Konstantinos Tzolakis, Charalampos Kostoulas, Konstantinos Karetsas, Konstantinos Koulierakis, Christos Mouzakitis and Thanasis Androutsos. 

After scoring the decider against Serbia, Douvikas could start the match alongside Vangelis Pavlidis, benching Kostoulas. Olympiacos defender Panagiotis Retsos and West Ham United man Dinos Mavropanos could form the heart of the four-man defence. Tzolakis is set to continue his top form in between the sticks. 

Meanwhile, Germany head into this contest marking Jurgen Klopp's debut as the national team head coach with a 1-1 draw versus the Netherlands. Having won each of their last five home matches and staying unbeaten in their last ten meetings with Greece, Die Mannschaft will hope not to slip up in a match that could alter their place in the group. 

Klopp has brought in a host of new faces into the squad following yet another heartbreaking World Cup exit. 

Germany are set to be without the services of Jamal Musiala, who sustained a thigh injury against the Oranje. Kai Havertz also returned to Arsenal after suffering a muscular issue. 

Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Burkardt have been named to replace the two against Greece. Felix Nmecha should keep his spot in the starting eleven after scoring the lone goal for Germany in their last match.
