Sporting Kansas City are readying a massive €24 million bid for Olympiacos' Andre Luiz, potentially outmaneuvering Premier League interest to secure a blockbuster summer transfer.
Olympiacos are set to receive a renewed offer from MLS side Sporting Kansas City soon for the transfer of Andre Luiz this summer.
According to a report by Nikos Kotsis of Sport24.gr, Olympiacos head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar sidelined winger Andre Luiz from the pre-season friendly against AZ Alkmaar, as they received news of Sporting Kansas City's comeback in the race to sign the Brazilian international.
The MLS club had previously tabled an offer in the region of 17.5 million euros, but it seems like the Greek giants did not proceed with their proposal. The news came after Wolverhampton Wanderers had their initial bids rejected by Olympiacos, but nothing has materialised so far, per an earlier update on Roundtable.
Sporting KC's latest offer is set to come in the figure of 24 million euros plus bonuses, and this amount can immediately trigger developments inside the Red and Whites' headquarters. The American outfit believes that their new bid would satisfy the Piraeus-based club's demands. The 24-year-old was purchased from Rio Ave in January for €6.75 million plus bonuses. No bonuses have been triggered till now.
The financial terms of a potential contract was mailed to the player's representatives, and negotiations are underway between the two clubs.
Despite this scenario, which makes the deal lean towards Sporting KC, it is worth noting that Wolves are still on the hunt. The Championship side is aware of Olympiacos' interest in their goalkeeper Jose Sa and could include him in a possible offer for Andre Luiz. There is no doubt that Thrylos will be tempted by this, as they could cease potential operations for either Orlando Gill or Dominik Livakovic.
The Flamengo youth academy graduate experienced a rather unusual season after joining Olympiacos in January this year. Following months of scouting, the Greek club made the deal with Portuguese outfit Rio Ave to sign him; however, he was used rarely by Mendilibar due to the non-EU quota rules.
Elsewhere, Hull City have an understanding in place with goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis. Negotiations have been going on with Olympiacos for a while now, and both sides are yet to reach an agreement on transfer fees as they hope for a deal beyond the initial asking price of 20 million euros. After winning the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2024, Tzolakis showed an interest to play in the Premier League and newly promoted English top-flight side Hull City took this opportunity to agree on personal terms with him.
